Will soon know if 708 brings back 578 or there will be two CSX units at Peaker.
Calling dispatch from 4037 so sounds like they dropped off 578. 16:25.
Having issues with the signals in South Lyon, and supposedly the switch at the WE is full of bees. Sounds like they are backing on to their cars now.
Green at WAS EE Brighton, DD at 39.1 has gone off twice at 16:53 and 17:00 but no car or axle count.

DD at CH 39.1 reports D708 as 100 axles and 1366' - this after giving no count twice.
Coincides with D708 telling dispatch they had 22 cars. D708 called Green Oak just after at 17:06.
D708, clear CH 43 at 17:11.

D708 westbound thru Brighton at 17:17. 4037 and 8400 leading 22 cars, no 578.

Any updates on this? I just heard what sounded like a GEVO go through town but I’m not sure if the 8106 had its horn swapped out or not.

Trailing unit on this is an AC6000 rebuild that should lead heading south.

Does anybody happen to know if:
1. They'll be bringing the train back down yet this evening.
2. The UP units will be leading.

I understand I'm basically asking for somebody to read the dispatcher's mind, but if anybody just happens to know it would be great.

The returning empty coal trains for the majority of time will have the extra engines coupled in front of the pair of BNSF engines that were the power when it was taken to the power plant as a loaded coal train. For example, CSXT engines #7010 + #16 are used as the rear DPU's for loaded coal trains & to be dropped off at a siding (Wells or Grand Junction usually) by a returning empty coal train for the next loaded coal train to use, or, for a loaded coal train already tied down in the siding.

For the UP engines D801 has, I'm wondering if they're going to build an empty coal train & take it all the way to the Chicago area where the BNSF crews will take it back to the coal mines in Wyoming. Would be nice if those UP engines would be staying on the Grand Rapids sub-division, but, I'm guessing they are to go back to the UPRR. The "D" crew wouldn't be the ones to take the train back all the way to there, an "E" crew would be assigned to do that.

The best way to know when that train will depart the power plant is by listening to the free Broadcastify on-line scanner for Channel 35 (CSX Lake Shore Dispatch) where they would copy their Form EC1 from the Dispatcher. Once copied, and if he gets on the move relatively quickly after copying his EC1, it can be about 40 minutes for him to get from West Olive to the Grand Rapids sub in Holland. Here's the link for that channel:

Does that empty coal train also have BNSF power on it? I've been trying to keep track of the BNSF engines on this sub-division, and, unless I've missed something, I have noted there is a loaded coal train still in Wells & Grand Junction sidings & no BNSF power at West Olive? I am missing what the 2nd BNSF engine was on N800-16 that ran this morning with BNSF #6242, the paint was so faded I couldn't read its number. He had tied down in Wells this morning & was told not to break his train. E800-16 a little while ago had set off CXST engines #7010 + #530 into Wells to be N800-16's rear dpu's. Thanks for any info :)
