CSX Train Location Updates - April 2021

D702-26 @ 16:24 westward reported by the DD mp CG19.1 with 138 axles & 1,751 ft. CSXT engine #4006 & 33 cars. HBD alarm on the 91st axle south side & also heard "detector malfunction". Train is stopped to inspect the axle.

At 17:13, D702 advised Dispatch no cause found for the HBD alarm & got the go ahead to proceed.

D705 west calling Clear for EE Brighton at 16:23, sounds like 725 leading.

725 leading and 348 in YN2 trailing with around 75 cars on D70526. Another new power set giving me 32 locomotive sightings for April in Howell, MOST SINCE they took away 328 & 329 a year ago. Whoop-de-do. Always had a 100 or more before those trains left. Total should increase as well before the end of April too thanks to the news from LRF and more grain trains coming. Sure beats seeing little beside 738+3211 everyday for four months in a row.

D708 & D705 did meet in Fowlerville.

D708 had 23 cars back to Lansing from Ann Pere after setting off 57 cars in the Howell siding. CSX 4037+8400 GLC went south when they were here.

19:20 CT / 20:20 ET Amtrak P370 making the left turn onto the CSX and off the NS at Porter. NS’ dispatching system pulled a “really, come on, Atlanta!” and tried lining a westbound in the way of P370. Dispatcher had to override and get the train to stop short of CP 479, then let the signal at CP 482 timeout before getting P370 his lineup, so they ran on approaches from CP 487 up to CP 482. Bah!

D705-26 @ 21:12 westward reported from Thornapple mp CH139 with CSXT engines #725 + #348 & 65 cars.

D700-26 @ 21:15 westward at the Holland Depot mp CG23.5 with CSXT #4006 & 18 cars (2 loaded + 16 empty). He'll go into the east end of Saugatuck Siding mp CG32 to clear up for Amtrak P370.

D801-26 @ 21:38 copied his EC1 to depart Grand Jct siding mp CG53.9 to go eastward with BNSF engines #8777 + #5724 & 129 loaded coal cars & CSXT engines #586 + #989 as the rear DPU’s. This was N800-25 that had tied down there on Apr 25th.
