Grand elk northbound through Byron center at 5:20. WAMX 4124 and 4125 with about 20 cars.
Back south at 8:25pm with 4125, 4124 and 25 cars. Mostly tank cars, with a few boxcars, covered hoppers, and an empty centerbeam on the rear.

Grand elk north at Byron center at 5:12pm. WAMX 4209 and WAMX 4125 running LHF with 10ish cars.
Man, there would have been some nice glint on the sides of the cars.. even wifey didnt hear them blow at 92nd st, so didn't hear until they were going by the house. Oh, would be so nice to get a 5 minute heads up, or even more if someone out there sees them at Moline or Wayland.

Back south at 7:55pm, wamx 4125 plus a 2nd loco and 25 cars I believe.

Sunday night, D700 brought down 40 cars to Hartford for the West Michigan RR. Tonight, there are 41 cars waiting to picked up by CSX. That is a new record for the WMI!

Awesome stuff Jonathon. Sometimes I see reefer cars that pass by on D705 and don’t get dropped off in Ensel. Are those for you guys?

No, all of our reefers are UP/ARMN cars that come from Chicago. The BNSF and CRYX cars go to Twin Cities in Lake O. Michigan Natural Storage sometimes gets JRSX and TILX reefers in Grand Rapids, too.

Lowell has 20 or so hoppers today. I did not hear GRE, but there were only a few on Monday.

Sure are. And it requires a lot of double, triple and quadruple handling.

That will be a very interesting operation. How long do you think it’ll take to get all the inbound and outbound cars in their proper spots? And do you arrange the outbounds or does CSX do that for you in Grand Rapids?

Arrange the outbounds? We shove everything to the interchange as it is loaded/unloaded. Last week when the 41 cars came down Sunday night (most of them were stone loads), all of the stone was unloaded and ready to be picked up by CSX on Tuesday night. If we have a crew on duty during the day, the stone can be unloaded very fast, they just need a few switches to be able to do more than 10 or so cars at a time. As for inbounds, sometimes the cars arrive in the order we need them, and sometimes they don't.

Thank you SD80. Do you foresee more expansion? Do you foresee installing a run around track?

No need for a runaround at the moment. I think the plan is to expand the transload facility this year, again.
