Unknown train coming through Novi. Horn is an oddball, maybe an out of pitch K5H? Scanner is very garbled.

N801-20 BNSF 8462 eastbound Medium Clear CP 482 onto the CSX Grand Rapids at 01:28 EDT. Cleared CP 482 at 01:33 EDT.
BNSF 8462 went westbound with empties from West Olive on 7/14. Is BNSF 9053 still with it?

Looks like they switch from the back. Probably shifting 2-3 cars from the loads to the outbound empties. That's just a guess based on visual observations, but there's no way they're switching from the Chicago Drive end.Raildudes dad wrote:Went by there last week. BNSF 8433, 9378 north at Riley St. Holland 10:10 AM. BNSF 8462, 9053 pushing.

Out on lunch, hearing D70021 is west around Riverside. Q32720 is having big problems, not positive what. They went by the west end of saugatuck, and are now needing to shove uphill back to saugatuck. 12:19pm. Update - maintainer spotted a tank car with a severe flat spot on the wheel on the front axle. Set it off at the agriculture business at Saugatuck.
As of 12:39, keep hearing chatter about Marquette in wyoming yard, so they might have died there last night and are getting their train back together.

Bit of storm related damage up here in GR. Breton Road & Jefferson Ave False Activation, Tree down around Eastern Avenue, unsure of size or track blocked. Sounds like Y106 CSXT 7821 East.

At about 2:30PM: Westbound D738-21 came coasting into Plymouth (coming from Livonia) pulling Q392's set off (which consisted of 26 cars) went across the diamond directly to Beck for this evening's D708 and/or D908. Pulling the train was CSX 2672 and trailing was GLLX 1017 (An alco T-6!). The 26 car cut consisted of many boxcars, woodchip hoppers, and tank cars.
10 minutes later: westbound Q151-21 came into Plymouth and turned south as usual. Power was CSX 3264 and CSX 974 with a really long train of loaded well cars.

3:30PM: D716-21 departed south out of Plymouth with CSX 6441 and CSX 2214 with no cars. Will be making a pick-up in Romulus.

Saw Q150 going up to Michigan at 1:30 pm on Railstreams Fostoria Camera Now I am seeing K597 coming up here soon should get up here in 4 hours I am guessing

Though you are within a normal ballpark, keep in mind that's if everything's smooth. Q322 can't even make it to Flint sometimes and they need a crew change at Wixom sometimes. Built as Newburg and South Shore 1017, a US Steel shortline that ran near Cleveland. It's sister 1016 works for the Middletown and Hummelstown near Harrisburg, PA. Been out of service at the Cargill elevator at Dana, Indiana for sometime. At 4:15PM: westbound/ southbound K596-21 came through Plymouth while D708-21 was waiting west of Plymouth diamond for 596 to clear.
K596's power was CSX 878 and CSX 7811 with a pretty long train of loaded steel slabs coming from AK Steel in Detroit. Most of the train was an interesting mixture of low-bulkhead flatcars with stakes, plus a few gondolas towards the end.
About 10 minutes later, D708 came across the diamond and into East Yard with CSX 8406 and CSX 896 with 29 cars. All the cars appeared to be a mixture of through traffic from Grand Rapids, not local industry traffic like it used to be.
Power will eventually go back to Beck and grab those 26 cars and Alco T-6 that was set off as earlier mentioned.
D717-21 was headed back to Plymouth from Detroit, but didn't stick around as that bad storm came rolling in and drenched me while taking a picture of D708 going over the diamond.

P370 has AMTK 26, cars and dome, AMTK 31. Thru 122 South Shore a few mins ago.
