CN Updates March 2015

397 coming west from Sarnia has CN 5684 leading. 8839 trailing. Into track 1 (1210).

Looks like 394 is already in Sarnia.

Sounds like CN 8938 is leading an eastbound that's getting a light at Blackwell. Sorry, didn't catch a number, apparently Blackwell is near the limits of my scanner range.

397 just cleared by Customs to start their Port Huron work. Train itself not cleared by Customs yet though.

397 to wye their power- 5684 apparently isn't functional enough to lead. Westbound from PH 8839 will lead.

321 starting through the scanner to come west.

Sounds like 397's power is crossing Griswold Road as part of the wying process.

Unknown eastbound visible at west end of yard, may be heading right through to Sarnia.

332 into the tunnel with CN 2319 and BNSF 7803. F/F.

[Robertrains]

I photographed train 382 northbound through Fraser at 10:46 a.m. It had 5 locomotives!!!! It was led by CN "Cowl" C40-8M #2417, two NS C40-9Ws and two more CNCN locos, the last one being SD70M-2 #8017! There is 123 cars─with the last one being an ICG "Sided Bulkhead Flatcar!" This was a good train!!!!

UPDATE: There is southbound 383 departing New Haven now (per scanner 2:12 p.m.) with another "Cowl" C40-8M!!!!
382 also departed "Haven" around 2 p.m. heading north with those 5 locos!!!!

That might explain why the PH yardmaster told 397's crew he was heading to Haven when they arrived in Port Huron. If I'd realized 382 and 383 were down there, I'd have headed south when 397 left, instead of home.

[Robertrains]

I rode my bike to the tracks and photographed southbound train 383 with CN C40-8M #2431, a CN ES44DC (23XX) and "Blue" IC C40-8W #2462! It had 140 cars!
I photographed it crossing 14 Mile in Fraser at 2:50 p.m. from a tree!!!!

I also saw train 524 returning to Pt. Huron with "Light" CN painted GTW GP38-2 #4925! It came at 4:27 and I also photographed it from the tree!!!!

Be careful climbing those trees...people have contracted poison ivy climbing trees for train photos before.

It should have been out of Moterm. I did hear Desk 8 talking to CN 2299 while I was waiting for 385 in Hamtramck.

I saw an intermodal that ran from Moterm toward Durand a few weeks ago. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more of these trains running soon if they have enough containers to move.

BNSF 7803 was the trailing unit on 385 today - CN 2243 was the leader.

E231 was by Milwaukee Junction in Detroit at 2:10pm with CN 5386 and 5287.

391 is heading north from Milwaukee Junction in Detroit.

532 waited for 391 before they went to the Mt. Clemens Subdivision.

502 was behind 532 on the Holly.

532 is going to wait for 328 to come south before they get a track authority at Nolan.
