That is a first time hearing about 4178, I’m not seeing WAMX 4178 on roster in the wiki page unless outdated. After looking the engine up, same paint scheme as WAMX 4190 (W and S)

Grand Elk just went by the Elkhart cam towards the Elkhart yard with two engines and 43 cars. I didn’t catch the engine numbers as they went by the camera but I will try to catch them on the way back to Kalamazoo. The cars consisted of box cars, tank cars, covered hoppers and two NS hoppers.

WAMX 4189 and WAMX 4209 at 8:51am on the Elkhart cam. Same power that went south by Byron Center last night. They must have dropped the 3rd loco off in Kalamazoo then.

Thank you very much Z. I looked at my phone right after the power went by the cam.

Just a heads up to Andy, Z and Tank, I can hear a horn in the distance. The train (Grand Elk I assume) is either crossing D Ave or going through Plainwell on its way north. I can hear the horn from my house so I don’t have a visual.

WAMX 4225 and WAMX 4206 with 26 cars.
Looks like they have cars for Bay Valley today.

Thanks for heads up! I will be waiting at Wyoming to catch them! Also you’re welcome for getting the numbers off the Elkhart Cam. I assume the 3rd engine that got dropped off at Kzoo was either WAMX 3807 or WAMX 4124. Both engines I saw at Grand Rapids Hughart Yard yesterday

Did not see the return trip, but there were probably 30 empties in the GRE Ann St yard and another line of loads for Monday or Tuesday. Saw them take one tank into Amway this morning. I might check King tomorrow.

Will do J T. I just happened to be outside at the right time today to catch the northbound horns. I usually catch the southbound horns when they get to Plainwell and head to Otsego Paper and then again when they get into Kalamazoo around Mosel and Graphic Packaging. Pretty amazing that I can hear them from my house. I live up the hill from the Kalamazoo speedway so that helps hear stuff from the valleys around us.

GDLK likes to sneak by my area a lot. I can sometimes hear their horn from 3 miles away and I live in an area that’s flat, no hills or slopes. Only way I get notifications on GDLK is from Z and others

Usually, I would post the southbound run when I hear them at 44th St then Z and so on. I’m not hearing GDLK south right now

When they depart GR, I hear them blowing loud and clear first at 32nd. Then I can count the crossings after that, with 54th usually being the last horn I hear, almost four miles away.
