Amtrak 355 out of Pontiac about 45 minutes late, passing MP 22.5 at 6:15 pm with Train 507 on Main 2.

On 10/28/22, it looks like #365 "leapfrogged" #351 at Niles. I was in Three Oaks and caught #365, then later saw #351 at Galien. #350 passed #351 at Three Oaks. According to dispatcher talking to hi-rail truck, #350 "had all kinds of problems" at origin.

351 was a 59 mph train that day.

Any particular reason why?

Quite the rare consist for 2022 on P353 this morning. Charger #4610, a former metroliner cafe car, and 4 Amfleet I cars (these cars have much bigger windows and one door per side). Was by Woodward Ave in Pontiac at 8:54 AM. Nice horn salute and peace sign by the engineer this morning . Happy Halloween everyone!

The only Metroliner cars in service are Coach-control cars and 1 Conference-control car.
The cars with a single vestibule are Amfleet 2 cars.
The cafe car is an Amfleet 1 car.
But yes, somewhat interesting the Amfleet 2 cars were there. They're intended for long distance trains.

Actually there are a few others, Amtrak converted some Metroliner cars into "regular" coach cars, usually referred to as "Michigan Coaches". They're numbers 44550-44557 (excluding 44553) and 9646-9652. I don't keep up with them enough to know if they're still out here in the Midwest, or are back on the NEC.

Some are active but as control coaches.
Also the conference car had it's controls removed.

The five digit Michigan metroliner coaches have been sidelined for years now, and I’m not even sure if they are still on amtrak property. The fleet of metroliner cab cars hold down regular assignments out east on the Keystone (Harrisburg-Philly-NYC) and the Springfield Shuttle in Connecticut (New Haven- Springfield, Mass), and occasionally on the Vermonter. Built in 1968-69 they are just about the oldest thing operating on Amtrak these days, but externally and internally they blend well with Amfleet equipment so the casual passenger wouldn’t know their additional vintage.

One metroliner has been preserved at the RR Museum of Pennsylvania.

No P365 today out of Port Huron. Passengers were bussed to Chicago. Pedestrians along the route breathed a sigh of relief.

350 has arrived at Pontiac. 355 will have the 4628 going back to Chicago.

355 & 352 meeting at Albion.

Not Michigan, but I just saw on the Elkhart railcam, the Capitol and Lakeshore Limited were running WB as one train, coupled together.

Train 350 had four Venture coaches plus a metroliner-type diner today and was running on time into Pontiac when it passed MP 22.5 on the Holly.

Amtrak 355 (which shares the same consist with the 350, which I also saw) had some absolutely horrendous flat spots today, particularly on the venture cars, I kid you not when I say I heard it from over a quarter mile away.

On Thur the 10th 352 broke down near Michigan City. Passengers were bussed. Amtrak sent a train 965, ENG 4615 from Niles to rescue 352's equipment. I heard 352 following 354. I wonder what the occasion was for having a Charger stationed at Niles. Test train???

353 by Opdyke Road in Bloomfield Hills at 8:57, Mixed bag consist today. Charger #4620, A Metroliner Cafe, 2 Horizons and 2 Amfleet 2’s. Nice crew this morning
