That's either 2 or 3 Southbound empty autorack trains in the last 16 hours or so.

251 north at Birmingham at 13:50 with CN 5729 and BNSF 7490

Northbound 251 by Linden at 2:12pm. Did not see the power but heard on the scanner at the Hotbox Detector at MP 56.2 (about 2 miles North of Linden), axle count was 678, so if he had only the 2 - 6 axle units identified above by GTWChris, that's about 166 cars. He did have about 100 short covered hopper empties on the end of his train - sand cars going back to where ever they are loaded.

Anyway, points West of Durand will have a nice long Westbound to see soon. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!

Yes it was a blue gecx. Saw it in Durand

For 678 axles, Axle math works out to be 3 six axle engines with 165 cars. Or, could have been two 6 axle engines & a 6 axle special car in the consist.
