CN Train Location Updates - February 2024

Once again, a lot of baretables. Anyone have an answer as to why?

They’re pulling the ones stored in Flat Rock/Toledo out of storage and sending them to the UP and elsewhere on the CN system. I thought I told you this when 251 passed today in Royal Oak lol

508 just rolled by MP 22.5. About seven or eight loaded gondolas on the head end, the car owner letters may indicate they were from DCON and Schlafers Scrap there. A lot of tank cars. No steel cars (do they still move that, I haven't noticed in the dark this winter) and then some containers.

Amtrak 350 was 20 minutes late leaving Pontiac this morning.

At 6:45 am what sounded like a light locomotive or very short train went SB past MP 22.5. A bit early for the usual 515.

10:15 - EB P276 with UP 6628 clear Wellsboro

Meanwhile, EB M396 with CN 8022/CN 8823 thru Charlotte at 10:02

At 10:12, EB Q116 with CN 5680 solo and all intermodal followed M396.

NB 515 with 9607 and about 20 cars, the first 8 or 9 boxcars including a full Conrail and full SP one, passed MP 22.5 at 11:13 am. This must have been what I heard at 6:45 this morning. It had no trouble up the hill going about 35 mph.

251 was past MP 22.1 at 12:05 pm. Very long train with a lot of mixed freight including a long string of AIM gondolas in various sizes, empty centerbeams, a lot of boxcars and at least half of it, in a number of blocks, autoracks.

116 rolling past MP 22.5 rather slowly with dynamic brakes on the single CN whining at 2:39 pm. Short train, all containers as previously reported.

No Amtrak 350 yet. Running close to 45 minutes late for some reason.

Manistique, which engine is 9607? Is this the CN painted IC GP38-2? Edit: Yes, I confirmed it is that engine!!!!

What appears to be 508 is going south through Linden at 8:18pm. 5 CN engines leading. IIRC the trailing units number was 5296, with the preceding two units appearing to be the same loco type. Two generic newer units were leading.

A492 ran from Kirk to Flint with: CN 2990/CN 3237/CN 5286/IC 9566/CN 5340
Friday night’s L507 had: CN 3182/CN 3229/CN 2297

In Flint yesterday, A492 dropped all 5 engines and departed Flint with CN 3182/CN 3229.

L501 last night/this morning used: CN 3237/CN 2990.

L508 last night had 2 SD70M-2s and then CN 5340/IC 9566/CN 5286. One of the last three was dropped in Pontiac and the other two carried on to Flat Rock.
