CSX Train Location Updates - December 2024

At some point today, there will be a B235 potash train coming out of Chicago for The Anderson’s at Webberville. As of now, profiled to go via Grand Rapids instead of the long way via Toledo.

Never could figure why they ever ran any of them the long way via Toledo. Once West Olive closes, there may never be another, so perhaps just starting early. To keep the crew base active, all Webberville and Grand Ledge empties and loads even going to or coming from south may run via Chicago too. I don't have much longer to live anyway, so it means nothing to me.

Tonnage too much to come up the hill without helpers on the loaded potash. Most of the grain trains come from the south east, so they hit Toledo before Chicago. Same crew base works grain that works Chicago traffic in GR, anyways.

L302-09 by Howell at 15:28 with only 34 cars. At least a dozen or more were ZVBX gondolas but the numbers I saw (without writing them down) did not look familiar to me as those assigned to Thai Summit. L302 only had one single unit, 5259. L303 met L302 at Williamston.

CSX was working AnnPere about 16:00. Appears they pulled into the siding with their train, coupled to the cars GLC had dropped for them, pulled through the siding, leaving the cars for GLC. When I left they had cars on both sides of the power (4061 and 4057) and were blocking the road by Padnos. They caused major backups in Howell. Not long before I caught GLC leaving Howell with 383 and 386 heading NB.

4061/4057 was reported as L305-09 on MI railfans on fb heading east at 11:57 this morning. GLC went to Ann Pere and was south through Durand at 11:37 with a smaller train

M326-09 last night between 23:45/00:15 eastward was reported by the Defect Detector mp CG91.9 St Joseph, Mi with 216 axles. CSX engines #7504 + 2 & 50 cars. He had a 4 axle engine in his consist (might be CSX #6169) that was said to be for 390, I don't know what was meant by that. He was re-crewed at the St Joseph Pizza shop & was back on the move between 00:15/00:45

B235 appears to have not ran overnight, nothing was found for him in the scanner archives.

Per report on the road, B235-XX has CSX engine #3445 leading with an unknown number of potash cars, passed Riverdale, IL at 10:50am ET (9:50am CT)
