RE The Lansing Debacle:

Lansing has a 2 man extraboard, 1 engineer and 1 conductor. The new manager of train operations won't use any Grand Rapids extraboard crews for the grain because OMG what if West Olive needs a train! So the Lansing extraboard works all of the grain trains and is never available for anything else. Meanwhile they have D707 and D708 trying to do 16 hours worth of work in 12 hours, so those guys are getting burnt out and marking off because they're all old-heads an can. Throw in the extra D708 they want to run every Saturday with the non-existent extraboard and its no wonder nothing is getting done.
