CSX Train Location Updates 8/13/16

Southbound G650 cleared 7 Mile Rd. at 4:15. Sounded like CSX 5495 leading.

07:00- Amtrak P371 departing Holland. Had a few last-minute runners around the headend, plus one bike was loaded in their leader, 90200.
07:05- P371 clear 30. Q326, who was supposed to be 15,000 tons but could find no helper crew so left 61 cars behind, is in the hole at Wells for the meet.

07:43- Q326 clear New Richmond, beginning their assault of Saugatuck in the rain.

07:51- Q326 is STALLED ON SAUGATUCK HILL
08:30- Conductor has made the trek back to 55th St, right about the middle of the train. They'll cut it here, and double to the siding at Saugatuck. Setting hand brakes now.
08:38- Car #37 is occupying the crossing. Looks like they'll cut it there. Train is 86 cars total, behind the UP 6832 and CSX 8800.
08:49- Handbrakes tied, good test, made the cut, and have a medium approach medium into the siding at Saugatck.
09:00- Q326 has successfully made the hill with their first half. Tying it down in the siding now.

09:46- Q326's headend is secured in the siding, heading back down to grab the remainder of the train.

10:40- Q326 is all up at Saugatuck now, where they are reassembling their train. Recrew called for 10:10. D700 is behind them somewhere, dunno when they go on the law.

12:43- D900 medium approach WE Saugatuck...I think they may be going on the law there

Does Q326 run on the NS Chicago line through Gary, IN at Pine Jct?

Yes. In fact, it crosses over from the CSX to the NS. But it's eastbound, thus long gone

Trains for the CSX in Michigan don't use Pine Jct/CP 501 to get to NS, since that's made for westbound movements from CSX Barr to NS. Trains towards GR use East Curtis, which goes from CSX Barr to CP 497 on the NS. Then the train will move to CSX Grand Rapids sub at Porter, CP 482. So the train would still be on the CSX at Pine.

EDIT - Here is what a route would look like for a eastbound from Chicago to Grand Rapids. Note, this is before the new CP 492, CP 494, and CP 497.

Keep me posted on NS 1071, cause if it goes up through Lansing to Grand Rapids, it could go on a N081 or Q327 and go through Porter which is where I am at this time!

Was on Q299 previously, could've easily gotten on 392. I don't know anyone who's seen it yet. That's what stinks about great things on the Saginaw Sub between Flint and Toledo. Very little window of time to report things and plan things, where as many other trains on NS can be reported 1-2 days before it even passes you because the Chicago Line is so massive in it's East to West mileage.

No chance. He turned east at Plymouth. Q150/151 power is usually intertwined so although I'm guessing, chances are he'll come back west to south on something tomorrow/or tonight.

D900 with SD40-3 #4054 and GP-38-2 #2639 stopped in Grandville to
drop off a flat of lumber for Standard Lumber and then headed into
Wyoming Yard.
