Tornado derails train in Waverly, Nebraska

Unread post by barnstormer »

A tornado hit near/in Wavely, NE, and subsequently derailed part of a UP train that was stopped near I-80. Though I don’t have numbers, nor its direction of travel, it apparently knocked approximately 10-20 cars off the rail. There was another westbound UP train that had also stopped about a mile east of the derailed train, probably due to seeing the tornado crossing the tracks about two miles ahead. The first few photos are of the train which was derailed. Hopefully, no one was hurt…and updated info can be given by others on this platform. These photos were screen-shotted from several storm chaser’s videos, of whom I follow online.
