Brightline in FL - more car/train accidents
Appears there's been at least 3 Brightline trains involved in crashes with automobiles this week. Latest video from the locomotive:
This last crash, freight train cleared on the doubletrack, Brightline headed the opposite direction, and car that was hit was going same direction as train, then turned onto crossing while gates were down

Video shows the car clearly making a sharp left from the the road adjacent to the track in order to get around the gates before they raised. As always, the train is not at fault and is also the winner. IMO Brightline locomotive should have swerved to avoid hitting the car SMH.

Someday, Brightline will have killed enough people that there won’t be anybody stupid left to hit down in South Florida.
So sad, nothing they can do. They have done everything possible except to close the roads or do grade separation.
Can’t deny the level of stupidity some people have.

More stupid people keep moving to Florida everyday.
There's no supply shortage there.

There needs to be a dedicated thread to the amount of stupid headlines that involve Florida people. Craziest thing I think I’ve seen was a couple of guys who went metal hunting and found a Grenade that was still very well active. Now you may ask yourself “did they get the proper authorities involved to disarm the explosive that could have deteriorated to the point where the slightest touch could posssibly make it explode?” Apparently the first thing to do in Florida is to take it to your local Taco Bell.

A fun game is to search "Florida Man" and your birthday - such as "Florida Man February 17" and see what crazy headlines come up.GTW Dude wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 6:34 pmThere needs to be a dedicated thread to the amount of stupid headlines that involve Florida people. Brightline and car/human mishaps
This happened yesterday…
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DKuVSmlILzQ
These incidents are happening quite a bit, can brightline (themselves) do anything more to possibly improve safety or is this on FEC (the owner of the line) since they own the trackage?

Re: Brightline and car/human mishaps
Why does the railroad have to do anything about trespassers?
One of the current problems facing society, blame shifting.
BTW, for a news item, a text source is better IMHO.

Re: Brightline and car/human mishaps
Some clown in the comments refers to it as the murder train. He seems to think the line should be trespasser-proof. He also seems to defend those who drive around the gates.DaveO wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:02 amWhy does the railroad have to do anything about trespassers?
