Lake State paint color

Unread post by rdenman62 »

I emailed Lake State Railway to ask what color blue they paint their locomotives. I received a very nice reply from Trista. She told me it’s called BFI Blue. I just cannot locate that color anywhere. Wondering if someone here can recommend a substitute that closely matches that or where I might purchase BFI Blue…

Well I suspect that BFI stands for the former Browning-Ferris Industries whose corporate color was blue.
Not sure that will however be of any help.

Try searching for BFI blue using a search engine. It's an automotive paint color. Lawson Products has it in a spray can: https://www.lawsonproducts.com/Lawson/High-Solids-Paints-BFI-Blue/1509197.lp It looks like the Lawson page has the color in stock, but I'm not sure that it'll be compatible with a plastic(?) model.

From what a couple quick searches showed, it looks like it's a fairly common automotive color, you may be able to pick up a small can of it from an automotive parts supplier.
