Issues with jerky movement

I have a Scaletrains CSX SD40-3 with DCC+Sound, I’ve had it for about two years, should I be lubricating it now because I’ve had it for two years and it’s been… for lack of a better word, jerkily moving around, it’s not able to run smoothly like it used to, thoughts?

sounds more like electric connectivity issues. clean the wheels and all the other electrical picks up and see what happens. I don't lubricate anything unless they start to squeal and then I only use Labells 108 oil very sparsely.

The only thing tho is it has capacitors, it shouldn’t be a problem with those, I should’ve mentioned that.

usually when a cap goes the device just stops all together. Jerky movement in a model loco is usually dirty wheels, or some sort of intermittent electrical contact issue. Search Youtube, I'm sure someone has a video that will show you what you need to do to clean up the wheels and any other electical parts. I've got a few Scaletrains locos in N Scale but have never had to clean even the wheels so far. Mine are only a year old or so.

Clean your wheels and your track.
