Proto 2000 SD7 & SD9 Shell Question

Unread post by rail_watcher »

Hello all, I currently have a Proto 2000 Denver & Rio Grande Western SD7 locomotive. My favorite railroad is BNSF and I see Proto 2000 has made green BNSF SD9 locomotives. My question is, would a Proto 2000 SD9 shell fit onto the body of a Proto 2000 SD7?

Depending on when it was produced, yes. Any of the SD7s/SD9s made by Walthers as part of ther "Proto" line will not fit the older Proto 2000 frames without some modifications.

I know my SD7 is a Life-Like Proto 2000. So, if I'm understanding you correctly, a Life-Like Proto 2000 SD9 shell should work, but the Walthers Proto 2000 SD7/9 shell will not.

That's correct. That's also not to say the Walthers shell wouldn't work, but you might need to modify the frame and/or the shell.

Facebook Marketplace is starting to be a spot where people are selling stuff on. With no train shows in the last 15 months people are finding any site they can to sell stuff. nice thing about Facebook is there is no fees like on EBay.

When did EBay start charging fees? I used to sell stuff on there all the time and don't remember ever being charged a fee.
