My layout in 2005

Here is some photos of my layout in March of 2005.

The table is a 4' x 14' which is a 4' x 6' and a 4' x 8' attached together. Here is a couple more photos.

These were before I went to college so it was still operational. Now I am in school for electronics engineering and am rewiring the whole thing so it will have an operating signal system and other operating signals. I plan to install some operating grade crossings.

I am also in the process of getting Atlas track to replace the Power Loc track. The atlas track will allow me to make more arrangements and is more flexible. Since I am starting from scratch it may be awhile before the layout is up and running.

Thanks. I have actually had my trains since December of 1995. That was when I got my first train set. But thae layout was first started in June of 2003. Thats when I designed that track plan.

Nice start, I know Bachman makes a type of flex track with a roadbed you may want to look into

Thanks for the tip i995impalass, I didn't know that they could make flex track with a roadbed. I did get some atlas flex track for christmas but that doesn't have the roadbed.

Justin, Did you draw a track plan before you started. It looks like some of your track took some pre-planning before putting it together.

Originally I just started putting track together to form the plan so no I didn't but some of the track I had to cut myself and custom fit so the geometry of the track was correct. They don't make a crossing or a diamond for Power Loc, so thats why I want to switch to the atlas track.

WOW looks like a nightmare to operate with all the reverse loop polarity problems.

Well thanks to atlas wiring system, it is as easy as putting the track together. They make a controller which is a set of reversing swithes, the track is insulated in both rails in two locations so this corrects the polarity problem.

Did you build it for operation or just running trains? Looks hard to build train in that small yard..... Cool layout either way.

Kind of both, but mostly running trains, I am hoping once I get done with college to expand and change the configuration so I can have bigger yards. That is also why I am switching to the atlas track as I can fit more trackage into a relativly smaller space.
