Layout signal system.

Unread post by Justin »

I was just curious if any of us modelers are using railroad signals on their layout and of those are they operating or do they just add to the scenery. I am in the process of installing a complete operating signal system on my layout. It will replicate CSX indications and aspects. I have always had a special interest in railroad signals especally interlocking signals. With me studying electronics I am building all of the control circuitry for them as well.

I opperate on a friends layout all the time, that has a fully working signal system. The layout is CR Indy Line, from Berea to the In/Oh. boarder. Signals are NORAC rules. We even have the flashing signals, like Limited Clear. Has semi working DD's. Has fully woking crossing protection. We even have electric lock had throw switches, that cant be opened with out the dispatcher giving you a unlock. The system was put in by Mike Burgett (SP sorry Mike) a CN signal maintainer, along with a little help from some people to make all the sodering joints. He also has his own website that I cant seem to find right now. Some have seen him post on the Michigan boardhost board. He himself has a C&O layout with full working C&O signals. Also he has helped put quite a few large layouts in the Detroit are with working signals.
