Radio Frequencies - West Michigan

Unread post by Dan Cluley »

I recently got a new scanner, and am working on a master list of frequencies I might need in an organized fashion. Most of what I'm finding online is either listed by RR rather than geographically, or potentially out of date, or both. My plan is to start several threads here covering different areas with the info I have put together and hopefully get corrections, additions/subtractions.

8 160.230 CSX Road
14 160.320 CSX Plymouth Sub Dispatcher
35 160.635 CSX Grand Rapids Sub Dispatcher
70 161.160 CSX Yard - Waverly
12 160.290 CSX Yard - Wyoming
25 160.485 CSX Yard
53 160.905 CSX Yard - Wyoming

22 160.440 MQT Road
80 161.310 MQT Yard

75 161.235 MMRR GRE MS
69 161.145 MMRR
95 161.520 Michigan Shore
I found conflicting info on these. Do they all use 75, are the others used? Any clarification would be appreciated

15 160.355 Grand Elk Road
95 161.350 Grand Elk Yard

61 161.025 West Michigan

43 160.755 Michigan Southern

86 161.400 Indiana NE Dispatch
66 161.100 Indiana NE Road

46 160.800 Amtrak east of Kalamazoo
93 161.505 Amtrak east of Kalamazoo
47 160.815 Amtrak west of Kalamazoo
81 161.325 Amtrak west of Kalamazoo
Is this correct, Do they actually use all of these?

CSX in West Michigan uses 08-08 for the road, 14-14 for the Grand Rapids Terminal Sub and Plymouth Sub dispatcher channel, and 35-35 for the GR Sub dispatcher. For the yards, they use 12-12, 25-25, 53-53, and 70-70. 53 and 12 are the ones most commonly used at Wyoming Yard. 70 is usually used at Waverly.

While we are here, I was looking at this page: https://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/ ... requencies

The forth entry: 160.320 14 Dispatcher RM (Plymouth Sub) states that the Plymouth Sub "RM" Dispatcher is on 160.320.

I am fairly certain this is incorrect as I have had no problems picking up the Plymouth Sub RN Dispatcher on 161.370. I just wanted to make sure and possibly bring this to the attention of someone who can fix the error. In addition I have no idea how the channel numbers correspond with the frequencies.

Sounds like a cool project, I'm doing something similar for my 'new' Maxtrac radio. What radio did you end up getting?

160.320 definitely used to be the dispatch channel on the Plymouth sub, but it has been quite a while since they changed.

I got a Uniden BC125AT & am liking it so far. My 100 channel Uniden from 1991 still works great, but getting nicad battery packs that will hold a decent charge has become a hassle.

This is a chart of the RR channels/frequencies

I appreciate you linking the chart! The BC125AT was my first scanner and it worked very well, unfortunately it went missing over summer so until I find it, my Baofeng UV-5R is my main portable. As for the batteries for your old scanner, have you considered having the battery pack rebuilt?

I have redone the packs a few times over the years, but it seems like even new nicads don't last much over a year.

There is a replacement pack available with nimh batteries, but it costs about 2/3 of the new scanner, so I will just keep the old one as a back up since it works fine plugged in.
