YAESU FT270R help!
YAESU FT270R help!
So I have had this FT 270r for years. Somehow it was programmed and always worked.
So yesterday I must have pushed the wrong button and I could never figure out how to get back to the scanner part or railroad channels.
I did a factory reset on it now I need to program it.
Is there any Good information or videos that make this understandable?
This thing might as well be in Chinese because it's so difficult to use.
DID it Again. Back to square 1

WoW. So here is the deal. My FT270 was not doing anything that the videos explained. Apparently it was stuck in some kind of service / test mode.
So I found on some obscure ham thread that a guy had the same problem.
Had to hold the VFO button in and turn it on while the button was pushed.
Suddenly I can actually access the frequency programming again.

You might find out how to put it in that mode so you never hit those buttons together the wrong way.A No.1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 2:43 pmWoW. So here is the deal. My FT270 was not doing anything that the videos explained. Apparently it was stuck in some kind of service / test mode.

Re: YAESU FT270R help!
Biggest pos I ever owned for railfanning/scanning purposes. Bought an extra since the original needed to go to the shop so much. Bad mistake, the 2nd was just as much a shop queen and junk.
Worthless tech support and repair service at Yaeau customer service as well.
Good luck figuring it out.

So Aside from my Secret/ Black Ops Scanner,
What is the Best / Easiest to use and effective Railroad Scanner on the Market?

Re: YAESU FT270R help!
A lot of people seem to have Uniden Bearcats. Personally I have a RadioShack Pro-96 and it’s always been good to me and it’s simple to use. The only issue is that it’s maybe 15 or so years old so it’s not a spring chicken but it works perfectly. Thousand channel capacity and combined with my 3 foot car antenna I can clearly get a 15-20 mile radius at peak atmospherics.

Re: YAESU FT270R help!
Thank you all for the info and replies.
I seem to have figured out enough to where I have All 99 channels programmed in and under the correct AAR # so 32 is actually AAR 32 and so on
I also figured out how to skip annoying channels if they are overly busy

I've heard nothing but good things about Bearcats. Personally, even though I'm a DXer, I don't dabble in the air/high VHF frequencies. I'm strictly AM (530-1710 kHz) and FM (87.5 - 107.9 MHz,) which are more continuous broadcasts. That being said, keep in mind that we currently have some solar activity going on, which may also hamper reception somewhat.ns8401 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 7:42 amA lot of people seem to have Uniden Bearcats. Here is a link to NOAA's Space Weather page, which lists things as Coronal Mass Ejections, sunspots, and even auroral activity. And yes, aurora can even affect higher frequencies.
