GTW Diesel Roster

Unread post by SD80MAC »

Been working on this recently, and I believe its done. I added a separate roster for the GP9Rs, detailing what units they were rebuilt from and where they ended up. Let me know what you think, or if you have any corrections!

I like your list SD80!

4442-4450 had dynamics and were originally acquired for the eastern GT operation. A handful of them were sold to the short line that took over the original GT line, St. Lawrence & Atlantic.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

I thought about getting into which units had dynamics and which didn't, but decided that was getting too detailed, even for me. From what I understand, the CV and GT units that were assigned to the GTW that had dynamics had them disconnected.

A few of them had the DB blisters removed and covered with straight metal

6046 and 6049 (ex D&TS GP7's) were on the roster at time of CN merger. There is a rumor they were upgraded to GP9 specs.

One of the ex-DT&I GP9's was renumbered to 6052 and was still on the roster at the time of the CN merger

A handful of the GP38/ac's were rebuilt to 38m (microprocessor) standards but that might have been done after the CN merger. IIRC they were 5800, 5801, 6200, 6201 & 6203.

Yeah, that was either at the tail end of the GTW era or right after the CN integration. They were numbered in the 4990 series.

Thanks for the info about the DTSL and DT&I GP9s. Never knew some of them lasted that long. IIRC the 6046 and 6049 were the only ones painted and may have stuck around because they had their air brakes upgraded. They were also the only DTSL GP7s to get the blue paint.

Updated with some new information that I wasn't previously aware of regarding some ex DT&I units. http://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/G ... sel_Roster
