I do not doubt what you said in the least. After all, if NS were to continue with the AC44C6M program, everything between 4650-4800 would have to be renumbered elsewhere. However, as of this time, I still do not see anymore rebuilds coming after 4625. Chris Toth and his NSDash9 website is always very up to date with the latest NS news and he still does not mention any additional rebuilds coming for 2023 after the current order is completed here shortly.

After reading this thread a couple days ago when it was first posted, I reached out to Chris Toth and asked him if he knew for sure if NS was planning to continue the GE rebuilds next year, The following is our very short conversation.

NS 8099 has been repainted after it's wreck a few years back, looks great.

NS just announced via their instagram that all 20 heritage units are to be shopped for fresh paint…Obviously a PR stunt for the railroad. Virginian went into the shop today, Lackawanna is supposed to be next.
