CSX 448 has been retired due to wreck damage.
When was it wrecked?
Not all that long ago. Last summer or early fall. It was involved in a derailment while on CP at New Hampton Iowa. CP could have purchased the remains as they have been known to buy other wrecked damaged units of units in this model.

For the ET23 program if they ever get moving on it. Ten more locomotives arrived at Ft. Worth for the 2022 rebuild program for a now 18 total which will take the 7200 series units up to at least 7278. New arrivals include 292,301,350,366,393,398,564,585,599,5108. None of the units that will become the 7000 series have arrived yet, but many are marked to go including 4,18,21,50,91,105,109,150. This will take the 7000s well into the 7030s.

Wow, surprised to see they are now rebuilding the 500 and 5100 series CW44AHs too.

Just read Railpace magazine that CSX also sending their CW44AC to Erie for rebuilding to CM44AC. Any confirmation on that ? Seems CSX is increasing their efforts to get more CW44AC to CM44AC done fast .

Only GP38-3 and GP40-3 seemed only rebuilt geeps. Know their lots of GP38-2,GP39-2 and GP40-2 showing their age and since there’s no manufacturers besides GE and EMD ever built any new Geeps since the GP60’s class models back in early 90’s. Does CSX have any plans to do the geeps -2 engines?

I would guess that at some point, CSX will continue their Dash 3 program for their Geeps and SD40 types.

Wouldn't be surprised to see those GP39-2's loose their turbos in future rebuilds to essentially make them GP38's . Less maintenance... but I could be wrong.

When three of the F40PH2 units were renumbered to CSX 1,2 & 3, not to long ago, it caused the renumbering of AC44CW units 1 & 2 to be renumbered to 173-2 and 174. Both of these units are scheduled for rebuild in Texas in 2022. While 173-2 has been out and running for quiite some time, AC44CW #2 has been stored at Selkirk for well over a year. CSX computers showed it renumbered, but instruction was given to Selkirk that this unit must be renumbered to 174 before leaving Selkirk. It was recently done so as CSX 174 was seen on the camera at Deshler Monday afternoon, April 11, 2022 with its "new" number as its on its way to Texas now. If anyone sees this unit between now and the time it gets to Texas it will be a rare photo because it will soon become part of the 7000 series.

Apparently CSX is going to rebuild (or have rebuilt somewhere else) 20 SD40 types this year into low-emissions locomotives. More SD40E3s?

Don't the SD40-3's (Spongebob Squarecabs) meet T2? And aren't the SD40E3's not reliable?

Even if they did, Tier 2 isn't exactly the gold standard

Well, given the fact that these are getting rebuilt now or in the future, they maybeeee would think to get rid of any problems that the first batch had.
