I strongly doubt it, it is taking over the lease from CSX from what I hear.

I have also heard NS will be exchanging 20 something rebuilt ex Conrail SD40s for the 80MACs, from a reliable source. I guess we'll see!

Kinda neat that all of the SD80MACs are back together now, will be neat to see some in fresh paint for NS soon.

Where did you find that?

NSSX had a dozen or so C39-8's a few of them CR and the rest like this one NS.

Was posted by a friend of mine in PA. No one seems to know exactly whats going on with NS 8635. Some have speculated scrap, rebuild, and all the other wild stuff that goes on when stuff like this happens to wander out of hiding.

Definitely a legitimate photo, they must have a plan for it, otherwise it would get the SX painted out that specificky and that carefully on the long hood and under the number. Interesting.

Nothing to see here after all, 8635 is to be scrapped at Cresson Steel in Cresson, PA.

9/19/14 Update:
NS 6156 received Electronic Fuel Injection and 6 480-volt receptacles on the long hood end pilot so it can be used for HEP and stand-by power in an emergency.

NSDash9.com just posted about the 12 80MACs going to NS and being rebuilt and renumbered to somewhere in the 7000 series. Nothing about SD40s yet.

There won't be a trade of SD40's. Numbers will be 7217-7228. And they will be rebuilt to SD70ACe specs eventually. They are going to run as is for now just like the SD90's. Some day they will get rebuilt, way too power short for that now.

I just hope someone in Altoona has some CR blue and stencils left over from the 8098...

EB James, but yeah I saw that and it's interesting, one has the Union Pacific on the long hood and the other does not. Both have the ironic for the situation on the Chicago line "We Will Deliver" slogan, doubly ironic since UP did just deliver them.
