Re: Cars vs Train
The railroad crossing is in the middle of the intersection there. A car accident occurred this morning. The damaged car wasn't moved in time and was hit by the train. Yet another in a long line of car-train collisions that could have easily been prevented by calling the emergency number on the blue...

RIP MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer. Such an influential band and guitar player. Hard to find a band who doesn’t cite him as an influence

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I heard ADBF has a couple new engines, a pair of SD40's. Can someone confirm that? They’ve reached an agreement to purchase four GP40s from LSRC. 1162, 1164, 1171 and 1174 https://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/Lake_State_Railway#Current_LSRC_Locomotive_Roster Why are they also buying the parts sou...

Re: Shortline Train Location Updates - January 2024
Based on the signal arrangement entering the yard (R/Y), I’m pretty sure there’s an IORY train inbound to Flat Rock as of 3:05.

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Trackage
I see NS and CSX trains on the former NYC going through downriver, with NS taking the southbound traffic and CSX with northbound traffic. NS ownership of the line begins in Gibraltar between Old Fort and Gibraltar Rd. Not 100% sure where CSA ownership begins on the northbound track. Meanwhile on the...

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Trackage
What is the point of CR shared assets? Is it just a zone where they couldn’t evenly divide up trackage between NS and CSX? Or more of a customer idea? The way I understood it was there was 3 areas CSX and NS couldn’t agree how to divide these areas so nobody would have an unfair competitive advanta...

Re: Carleton, MI
If IORY is going into Flat Rock, they typically reach the yard about 10am and depart sometime in the afternoon. I’ve seen them leave as late as 5pm. Haven’t been able to nail down a schedule so I would guess it’s an as needed thing.

I don’t think Woodhaven stamping will ever see rail service again. That place is barely open as it is these days.

Re: CN Dearborn Sub
So after confirming with some reliable sources, its happening. I'm not surprised the maintainers don't know anything because the boots on the ground guys are usually the last to know anything, unfortunately. The Dearborn Sub will be upgraded to 40 mph with CTC, PTC, and CWR. This is for new intermo...

Re: Delray,
Dearborn Steel changes origins and routes periodically it seems. They used to get coke from Mingo Jct. then W&LE to CSX (Willard) or CN (Toledo). NS had it for a while. It’s difficult for a railfan to keep track of unless they have connections 😉 I haven’t seen a coke train in Flat Rock in at least ...

Re: Delray,
CN is (or was) getting two coke trains. 1. A shuttle to Rouge Steel (hard to believe CN would take something this short a distance) 2. Another one that went to a mill in IN or East Chicago. Do Coke trains still come off Zug Island onto the Boat Yard Line? In the past these have been handled by both...

Re: Delray,
I don’t see why it wouldn’t but I don’t know enough about CSA operations to confirm that. I’m just making an educated guess based on where it originates.
