How does one not see the other six lanes of traffic on Gratiot slowing down when the gates started coming down. If she hadnt been the first one to the crossing they would have likely rear ended someone im thinking. The train looked like a light engine move going down to Mack Yard.

CN 144 and 145 operate into/out of Oakwood Yard with a single engine most days. The Power is often wyed at either Delray or Milwaukee Junction depending on other factors.

Q327 does not go through Delray, nor do the majority of trains running through Plymouth with a few exceptions. The fire in the house along Melville Street started from the radiant heat of the trailer catching fire upon impact. The tractor was still up near the base of the onramp. Everything was at l...

Q132 will normally run on the Lincoln Secondary, but if another train has the blocks they wont be able to get through. The secondary is 30 miles long without any passing sidings so its not uncommon for trains to run via Plymouth.

If it was coming up the Holly from Pontiac you would be able to hear trains whistling from down near Pitt at New Lothrop or Pittsburg Roads. If you are at the depot you can also hear and see the crossing signals at Oak Street if an eastbound is approaching. Scanners are also a good tool to have when...

I looked through some of your shots posted onto railroadfan look simliar to the one you had questions about. Ive found that the more you zoom in on digital camera the more blurry and distorted they become. The ISO could also be set to high, but its hard to tell without the EXIF data.

Well Delray Junction is a straight shot up I-75. Take the highway north from Eureka Road to Exit 44 (Dearborn Avenue). Take a left and cross over the tracks and youre there. If you park on the gravel near the entrance to St. Marys Cement you wont have any problems. 75 Trains a day from CSX, NS, CP, ...

Since the discussion of trains blocking emergency vehicles came up ill add something else to that. The Detroit Fire Department sends a pumper to fill-in for the station near Delray Junction whenever they are at a fire or away from the firehouse 24/7, 365 because of the amount of trains passing throu...

Well if it was on CN it was most likely going towards Ponitac because the circus performs at the Palace of Auburn Hills every year usually. The performances in Grand Rapids and Detroit were more than likely not scheduled back to back. This year they will be at Van Andel Arena from September 13th to ...
