Re: Equipment for Fermi plant to be shipped by rail from Mon
Tell me what I am missing here but Fermi already has its own rail line leading into the facility, doesn't it?

Re: Adrian & Clinton Branches
Lots of interesting questions. I am a bit familiar with Adrian but Tecumseh not so much. Merilatt at one time shipped finished cabinets and received particle board via rail (boxcars). They changed to truck for outgoing shipments first, account damage to product en-route. Later they switched to truck...

1. Toledo Harbor Warehousing looks inactive, and GTW6401 commented saying the Toledo Blade is now produced in Michigan. Toledo Blade has been printed in Sterling Heights at the Detroit Free Press/Detroit News printing plant and trucked to Toledo since The Blade printing plant in Toledo was closed se...

"As I understand it the PRR would of had to of crossed the Maumee River at some point. I believe the tracks ran parallel to the river on its East side before crossing over somewhere near downtown, but does anyone have a specific location for the former bridge? If so, does anyone have a date? 1970s h...

Re: Adrian and Blissfield (CHS, DCRR, LIRR, JAIL) Q&A
LI services Delta Faucet and loads a few tank cars at the transload.
I read that the tank car transload will be moved to Millington in the near future. There has been some track rehab taking place there to accommodate this.

"Temperance Yard: I know there is the Smuckers plant next to the yard that gets service, and the yard is used for what appears to be storage." The Smucker plant was sold to an investment group last year. I'm not sure what product is made there. The adjacent Cheerios factory closed years ago. Just so...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
I've seen the same, re parking power in those areas. High $$$ and low priority but I wonder if ND&W will build some sort of engine facility, along the lines (pole barn shed, essentially) of what LCRC/ADBF built and still uses in Adrian. This would also make it easier to do maintenance during the col...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
ND&W runs M-F, maybe the occasional Saturday. I've seen them start at Defiance around 8:00 a.m. Easy to find and follow, as the line runs parallel to U.S. 24 and train speeds are low.

Track That Runs Parallel to I-280 in Toledo
Last evening there was a Loram rail grinder train parked on the spur track that runs parallel to and on the east side of Interstate 280 near the Toledo-Oregon border. The tank farm on the Maumee River where this track ends doesn't appear to have gotten cars in a long time, so CSX will once in a whil...

You may have to cross the border, or go to Illinois, to see the lighted version of the CP Holiday train this year:

Thanks, Michael. My friend in Monroe totally lost track of John following that last encounter in his living room all those years ago. They were pretty close, too so we were both surprised by that. John was planning to leave for California the next morning, although a look at the vehicle he was drivi...

Re: Sturgis to Coldwater Line
John Uckley. Now there is a name blast from the past. I wonder what happened to him? The last time I saw him was in the living room of a mutual friend's house in Monroe in about 1993. John was getting ready to say goodbye to Michigan, and head to California. Nobody seems to have ever heard from or o...

Any updates on the future of the TC line? I don't recall reading anything in the most recent MDOT State Rail Plan https://www.michigan.gov/documents/mdot/MDOT_MI_SRP_public_review_draft_2011-05-23_600dpi_353776_7.pdf other than the dream of passenger service, that speaks to the future of the TC line...

Re: WMI Reconstruction?
Cool. I was fortunate to catch a cab ride in the GP7 on the KLS&C from Paw Paw to Lawrence and return, back in the day. In Lawrence I got off for a few minutes and my then girlfriend took a picture of me standing next to a former MIGN Geep that was stored on a siding. The engineer was a nice guy and...

U.P. Flood Damage
According to the https://www.facebook.com/UPTrains/ page the CN line in L'Anse took a hit in the recent flooding. The bulk of the damage seemed to occur in Houghton County, where rail is no longer. But I wonder if the heavy rain in that general area did further damage to other lines, such as the alr...

Re: Amtrak train kills pedestrian
Tier4GEVO speaks the exact truth here. My best friend of 30+ years chose to end his life on CN near the Lapeer Amtrak station on the evening of Wednesday, June 13, 2018. We (family, friends, the medical profession) all tried our best, we tried so very, very hard, but nothing we did for him really he...
