Re: Secretary of Transportation to visit LSRC 6/1/2022
If that is the case then it sounds like they are expecting to get some customers in the Lawrence area. That warehouse is to the East of the Teapot Dome closer to Paw Paw. Those tracks through there have been torn up for a while now. I am sure the residence on Lake Cora will be thrilled to have the ...

Re: Indiana Northeastern Railroad to improve tracks in Branch County
Today they were replacing ties in Quincy. Working both sides of main St. I didn't get a good look, but it seemed they might be totally replacing the passing/run-around track, IIRC the last run from Sturgis to Coldwater would have been in the late 90s or early 2000s. The MSO used to make that run. Th...

Yesterday the MOW equipment was all on the siding west of Clay St. That's just west of the old depot. There was a gaggle of guys in hardhats and yellow safety vests looking like they were getting ready to get to work. I'll try to get down that way tomorrow or Friday and see where they're working.

Ummm......doesn't the Michigan Shore RR count as a shortline switching in Waverly?? Also, since you’ve commented, when can we expect passenger service in Hamilton? I'm sure they are working on Hamilton to Holland express commuter service, and possibly a Hamilton to Hartford passenger run.

Hamilton Northwestern Railroad Co.
Looks like Hamilton Hartford Group is going to start a second shortline, The STB appears to have given the necessary approvals. It is 6.1 miles of the Hamilton Branch from MP12.9 to MP19.0. I'm guessing that is why the siding at (I believe) Fillmore Rd. was recently cleared.

Grand elk back south through Byron Center at 7:01pm. Wamx 4124, wamx 4125 and 35 cars. As of 8:15pm, no grand elk in Moline. No cars at Nutrien Ag Solutions in Moline either. GDLK was presumably picking up the Otsego boxcars when I left to walk the dogs at 8:45. At 9:01 they were blowing for M-89, ...

Re: Durand Rail Days Festival
Rail Days was way cooler 30 years ago from what I've seen. A shame we cannot have that anymore. The world ain’t the same as 30 years ago. How was it cooler back then? Maybe 30 years ago Grand Funk Railroad with Mark Farner put on a free show. That would have made it way cooler. 😎 Now that's an Amer...

GDLK south through Plainwell at 8:41PM. I don't think they stopped as there were no cars set out on the Otsego branch earlier.

Re: Future of the Plymouth Sub/Grand Rapids Sub
I enjoy “What Ifs”. That is why I manage paper railroads. That’s why I like reading the paper railroad forum. Scenarios continued: Scenario 5.0 Watco/Grand Elk takes control of the entire line from Plymouth to Porter. Scenario 6.0 GLC takes control of the entire line from Plymouth to Porter. Scenar...

Around 5:45 this evening the GDLK was NB approaching Schoolcraft. Seventeen cars. Does anyone know if this was a local or the train from Elkhart to Kalamazoo? If I had thought a bit more quickly I would have been able to see it crossing the diamond.

Came across the GDLK in Plainwell around 6:20PM. Nary a train in sight. Got out of the car around 5 to 10 minutes later, I can hear the horn. Not sure which way they're heading.
Still in town at 8:20PM.

Re: Norfolk Southern Marion Branch
On a historical note, didn't the line used to go straight across the Water Level Route and keep going north WAY back when? Saw something one time about a line from the south that came into Battle Creek. There was a line that ran from the Marion branch in Goshen to Sturgis. Going north from Sturgis ...

Re: Brightline and car/human mishaps
Why does the railroad have to do anything about trespassers? One of the current problems facing society, blame shifting. BTW, for a news item, a text source is better IMHO. https://www.local10.com/news/local/2022/04/18/teenager-struck-by-train-in-miami-police-say/ Some clown in the comments refers ...
