Re: Railroad Scanners

Yeah the BC125AT is a good one. I got mine for less than $60 of ebay and I bought a Tram antenna with a BNC connector to extend my range. Easy to setup with the PC program too.

Re: GDLK Operations

Where does the GDLK interchange with CN? Does their trackage go all the way down to E N Ave? I seen on another topic page that 105 switches Green Bay Packaging, but google maps shows a CN engine in the yard north of E N Ave.

Scanners and Bluetooth

So I bought a Bluetooth speaker the other day for when we are boating. I had an idea pop into my head, would it be possible to connect my scanner to a Bluetooth transmitter? My thinking is that I would leave my scanner and antenna upstairs (to get the best reception) and connect a Bluetooth transmit...

Re: IORY Updates

Looking at google maps it looks like something was going to be built just north of Leipsic. Anyone know what that was going to be, if anything? Or is it just a connection with CSX and thats it.

Re: MOW equipment on JAIL in Mason

I could see tracks reaching Class II status someday if more business could be found, but most likely speeds will be limited to 20mph so it could still operate at restricted speed and not require a dispatcher, track warrants and all that other stuff.

Reedsburg Wisconsin

What all does the WSOR do in Reedsburg. It looks like inbound logs and out bound finished wood from Reedsburg Hardwoods. Plastics for Primex. What is the spur south of the main? Looks like scrap being loaded into gons? Then does the casting place take in scrap at the corner of Railroad St. and Dewey...

Re: Delta, Oh Questions

I think very little if any traffic is interchanged in Delta, NS brings IORY cars to Lima. The IORY switches the steel mill (its one of their key customers in the area) they us the mills yard channel. They run a turn to Flat rock M-W-F and do local switching on T-Th.

Riding Tank Cars

So I have heard more than one NS conductor say that they can not ride tank cars? Is this really true and if so why? And how can they do that, some industries require shove moves that could be upwards of a mile or more. Do NS conductors just have to walk the whole way?

Re: Lakestate on the ground

I thusly assume waddy you have never worked on a railroad and are content watching choo choo trains go by and then commenting about things you obviously know nothing about. Well you know what what happens when you assume lol. We operate under Yard Limits. So eat your words. We never use a form just...

Re: Lakestate on the ground

And that's why there is a switch position report requirement...at least on CSX...between a crew using a switch in non signaled territory and the dispatcher. Permission to unlock and open switch from dispatcher, time and date, switch closed and locked, time and date with initials. Prevents this sort...

Amazing how a railroad can grow when it has not only hard working people, but people who know what they are doing. Best of luck to the people at Lake State.
