Re: Recovering lost videos

Ouch. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/73/c9/f8/73c9f8f4c8f51c1144d551d9fdd42a23.gif I did get photos of the steam train and most of the trains I caught before it all got lost. So its not a total L. I've heard from other railfans get robbed and cameras got stolen or destroyed. Guess Im okay to an ext...

Re: Recovering lost videos

First, I know it’s too late now, but if you ever experience a camera malfunction or get it wet, first thing to do is remove the SD card, and dry it separately, and transfer any data before risking it in the potentially malfunctioning device. That’s because the camera could start writing over, corru...

Recovering lost videos

So on May 8th, I was out in Iowa chasing the 2816 in the rain. Then my sony handycam gets water damaged even though I had an umbrella under it. So after I used a hairdryer to dry it off and it worked again but I lost all of my videos prior to when it happened I've spent the last 2-3 hours trying to ...

Re: Lake State Railway

LSRC gets really cool north of flint, Saginaw, and Bay City. The road train alpena on the Huron sub runs south between 4 and 6 pm. During the summer months you can chase it in daylight until at least oscoda. The track speed is 10 mph so it makes an easy chase. The road train out of Bay City usually ...

Re: Utah Traffic Amounts

From what I've heard and this is coming from a railfan I ran into while I was in Arizona back in March. He said that your best bet for action is echo canyon near Salt Lake City. UP runs a good 30-40 trains a day. After it gets to Salt Lake City. It all splits off to different lines. Traffic in Utah ...

Re: Santa Fe Jct train traffic

Okay, but you could rewind it as well. I'll say this, this is a rough estimate and I've been to Kansas City twice for trains and I'll say it's one of my favorite cities to railfan outside of Houston, Dallas Fort Worth and the twin cities. You got about 100 BNSF trains a day from both the former ATSF...

Re: CSX head on collision in Folkston, Georgia

…Hoping everyone is ok. Miraculously, only minor injuries. I know the speed of impact wasn’t high, but I know L743 well from when I lived down south and did my three trips to Folkston that I did. Back then it was A771. It often becomes a key train after it works Waycross (it works Waycross, Baldwin...

Re: CSX head on collision in Folkston, Georgia

These railroads have to stop cramming everything into one spot. Now I know the MOW worker screwed up. But you had 4 trains in the vicinity. M442, M209, L743 and I032. Folkston doesn't see the amount of traffic anymore compared to other places averaging 32 trains a day including the 6 Amtraks. There ...

Norfolk Southern Settlement

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/norfolk-southern-settlement-east-palestine-train-derailment-ohio/ Norfolk Southern is going to pay 600 million dollars for the damage they caused in East Palestine Ohio a year ago. Is Norfolk Southern nearly gonna go bankrupt? Could a Conrail 2.0 happen? I sure hope so. ...

Re: The return of gypsum near Alabaster for Lake State.

I honestly love how growth minded LSRC is, alot of railroads need to take notes. I honestly thought Alabaster was cooked after they ripped up the track during the summer of 2012. Plus I have heard rumors that LSRC wants to increase their speed on the Huron Sub from 10 mph to 25 mph. Seems like every...

Canadian National Operations (upper peninsula)

Good evening everyone, I am going back to the U.P sometime later on this summer to visit some friends that go NMU. After I returned home last year in June from visiting them, I saw an Instagram photo of a CN train passing Goose lake on a causeway with a pair of SD60s. I would love to shoot this oper...

A CN stack/auto rack train with SD70M-2 8854 leading was seen arriving into Bristol yard in flint at around 0700. Currently leaving flint to head for Port Huron as of 0830. Is this Q122 or a late Z148? Also a westbound is sitting on the main between MP 270 and MP 263

Re: Carleton, MI railfan meet

Carleton was even decently busy until the recession of 2008-2010. Lot more Grain, more auto rack traffic too, CN still ran 3-4 trains a day, and etc. I chose not to venture to Delray, not worth my time honestly when I can see a buttload of CSX trains in Ohio. Battle Creek and Schoolcraft yes are dec...

Re: Carleton, MI railfan meet

Good luck catching any movements through Carleton nowadays. Durand and Lansing are the best spots to go to in Michigan. I'm also going to give my two cents regarding the Chicago line. The former NYC Chicago line isn't my go to line at all. It does get indeed boring. The ex B&O between fostoria and D...
