Re: Traverse City Railroad Questions
You TC guys--- have a question--- is there still a CORNILLIE CONCRETE plant up there? The trucks were red and yellow, but might have been bought out by someone else by now. Don't know where they were located exactly, but it was supposed to be somewhere south of the train station area . It was bough...

Re: Traverse City Railroad Questions
The wye is out of service, wide gage!!! There are also now trees growing between the gauge. GP35, are you able to say whether it's the city or the road commission potentially bringing in salt? Also curious where they would transload. There's the old transload siding literally next to the city salt ...

Re: Traverse City Railroad Questions
Last time I saw it used was 2002 when they turned a BNSF box car. Strangely, it went to Amerhart (Northern Pacific Lumber back then), and a couple days later TSBY brought it back into town, wyed it, and took it right back up to Williamsburg. I have a pic somewhere. TSBY 389 and 391 were the power. 3...

Re: Traverse City Railroad Questions
County Road Commission or City of TC? Seasonal I assume, summer traffic to build up following winter supplies? Either way, that's great news for TC area. Wonder what the car count might look like.

Re: Traverse City Railroad Questions
Amerhart in Bates (just short of Williamsburg) receives center beam loads of lumber. Sometimes 4 cars at a time, sometimes 1 or 2. They are a distributor to retail lumber stores and contractors. Beacon Recycling on the Grawn branch ships out gondolas of scrap. Sometimes they have one car, sometimes ...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates September 2023
Flew over Amerhart in Williamsburg on a Sun Country flight from TC today, and there are 4 loaded center beams in their siding. Those were delivered overnight Friday night/Saturday morning. The captain wouldn't fly over Beacon.... Railroading aside, since when did Sun Country fly into TVC?? lol Star...

Re: Michigan State Representative Brian Begole to host a fall tour trip between Owosso and Alma with 1225
Good, maybe he'll ask why the hell are there so many slow orders on the Cadillac district, and GLC doesn't seem to want to spend any of there money on ties or rail. The state contract reads that the operating railroad is to spend 20 to 25% of its earnings on general track maintenance!!! Instead the...

GLC headed to Petoskey, passed Walton Junction about 1pm. Hoppers, tank and a gondola- not sure where the gondola is going.

Announcing the new operator of the TC District from Walton Junction to Williamsburg and to Grawn. Interchanging with the GLC in Walton jct. Traverse City Northern Railway. LOL! Well, my railroad was bought out by WATCO already. Something about since there are rumors of them buying GLC, might as wel...

Re: Railfan Landon at Traverse city Wheels on Rails
Well, to be honest, and with the way railroad companies keep popping up nowadays, and with the pic of that loco--- I thought it was a new operation. Also, with the knowledge that a spur or two off a class 1 now qualifies as a "SHORTLINE", any thing is possible. And that pic of the loco--- why/ how/...

Re: Railfan Landon at Traverse city Wheels on Rails
So I've been following this thread plus others which show considerable track work around the station area in TC. What's the purpose? A few years ago (and to lesser extend in the last couple years), ties have been replaced and ballast added on the main into TC, part of the Grawn branch (up to Beacon...
