A couple weeks back i was wandering in the yard north of columbia. track crews were out south of columbia and it looked like they were pulling up rail. just south of walton the flag was up for out of service and 2 switches were dismantle...

Re: A Lansing Mystery: Abandoned Trestle
Is this spur active? Looking at the bing map if you look at the very end of where the spur ends it looks like two loaded centerbeam cars?? The spur "ends" at the bridge. If you zoom in at the link you provided above, you'll see that there are no rails in place east of the trestle. I zoomed, there a...

What is your favorite custom loco/car on your railroad?
Just curious what fun and unique things are out there that nobody has shown off yet. What is your favorite locomotive or car that is custom made on your railroad or display. time to show off! Since i've painted hundreds of things there are many sentimental favorites in my collection... but today i'm...

Re: New Project GTW GP9R
I don't have a GP18 handy, how is the fuel tank/air tanks on the P2K? The GTW GP9R's had a larger fuel tank and the air tanks under the walkway, like later EMD's (I think they started on the GP20's). Perhaps using a GP20 frame would work? A stock GP7/9 and I think GP18 from EMD had the air tanks mo...

Re: New Project GTW GP9R
Yeah, i have no plans to tinker with the under frame at all. Proto is nice, but i hate how they are factory assembled...terrible for taking apart and customizing. Note to maufacturers...stop gluing things together! thanks

Re: New Project GTW GP9R
Going to be a combination athearn/front range/canon and company unit. Before anyone has the chance to critique... this unit will have the wrong number and sized fans, improper louver number and configuration on the body and probably some other details will be amiss. The client ordering could not fin...

Re: Ann Arbor Caboose Questions
On a side note, does anyone know where I can find some TSBY GP35 decals? Are you looking for the blue style TSBY or the original black and yellow scheme? I specialize in Michigan short line decals and will have the Black/Yellow scheme out in 2011. If you need any other Mich shortlines let me know. ...

Re: New Project GTW GP40-2
guess i could always work on multiple? I have 3 shells dedicated for LSRC and one for BC Rail... so odds are i'll probably do them all at once since they are the same shell...so i dont forget how to build them!

Re: New Project GTW GP40-2
OK, finally finished this unit up after taking a couple days to procrastinate on painting the handrails... my least favorite part of modeling...i lie... 1st least. MAKING handrails takes the top spot. Anywho... alas, it is done, weathered, and put back into its box for return to shipper. Only reques...

Re: New Project GTW GP40-2
you are correct. My client wants it with the ex- DT&I number 611. "customer is always right." That is one of the few details i'm willing to ignore so to speak, the window on body. Good eye though for sure on that terribly image quality!

Re: New Project GTW GP40-2
Next on the chopping block (no pun intended) is a GP40-2 in GTW scheme. This unit is just about done, still need to paint the pilots, plow, walkways, etc black and give the sills a white coat. Going to be unit 6411 i do believe. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5042/5224368816_9aa4ff6cdd_b.jpg This wa...

Ann Arbor Railroad decal - only 1 set for sale
Hello everyone. On my list of "to-do's" was the Ann Arbor GP units 7771, 7791, and 7802. In an effort to simplify future plans i have scrapped the AARR from that list. As most of you know, I have been re-issuing, updating or making new decals with some art coming from the old Craig Wilson decal sets...

Re: Painting the HESR GP9 Scheme
Here is a quick mockup of your UTRY in chesapeake style font. If this meets your needs it can be done. i did both "Ry" and "Railway" for you to see, i think it looks better spelled out in that font. As far as paint goes, any time i have used Enchantment blue it seems to come out more of a purple tha...
