Is CN using mid-train helpers in Michigan now?
Hello everyone, long time no see! Today, after working in my yard all day I decided to head up to the Sunrise in Memphis and get a slice of pizza and a couple of Bosco sticks for "dinner". I figured I'd head up to the CN Flint Sub to see if anything's going on while enjoying that absolutely gorgeous...

Re: Ann Arbor Railroad MOW thread
Nice Pictures! Port Huron could use a grade crossing replacement on 16th street near the CN St. Clair River tunnel to Canada. Every time you drive over it, it sounds like the spikes are loose and shaking and the wood dips down way in between the rails. You ain't kidding! I drive down there every da...

Re: Clinton township derailment.
I'm assuming that's what the Loram equipment that has been parked in Richmond is doing? I've noticed it for the past week or so. Wasn't sure what they were doing with it. Saw the UP autorack alone in MTC, too. Figured that was the one involved in the derailment.

Re: Lake Michigan/Huron back to "average"
I know it's just a cycle, but The Endless Winter helped reset the water tables in a few places! Just a couple of years ago, I drove along the St. Clair River and people quit extending their docks out into the river and just let them end in the sand. Couple of poor souls didn't take their boats out o...

I was told there is supposed to some kind of motorcar gathering on the old Sweetline soon. I don't remember exactly when though. Could be this weekend? Maybe someone else can help.

It's funny you mention class reunions. I just got a card in the mail yesterday for mine. I didn't go to my last one. I graduated Marine City class of 1992. For years after, the running joke was we didn't need a "Class Reunion", everybody would see each other every year at the Maritime Days beer tent...

Re: Bicycle accessory company promotes railroad trespassing
Seems the manufacturer (or advertising company at least) needs to see the video of the recent trespasser-trestle incident in Indiana here a couple of months ago. Most people just brush it off when you say don't trespass on RR tracks, but if they see what it's like from the inside of the train how he...

Re: RARE CSX SD40-3 in Port Huron, Michigan!
yeah, I'm not sure. Mostly I see the widenose GEs or SDs of some sort, but not the 40-3s. I correct my previous post though: they weren't SD60s I saw in PH all the time (especially in SBD paint), they were SD50s. Sorry, my mistake. It's late. I'm tired. I'm old. It's past my bedtime.

Re: Railfan & Railroad/Railroad Model Craftsman new ownershi
I hope that they can keep them going for a long time. I miss going up to my local hobby shop and picking up copies of R&R, CTC Board, Pacific RailNews, and The Railfan Photographer. I'm glad White River have kept RR Illustrated (formerly CTC Board), TRP, R&R and RMC going. Here's to many more years!

I'm a huge football (and baseball) fan, but haven't had much time to think that deeply. My fantasy team just drafted last week and I wasn't ready for that either! I know the Lions won't be in the Super Bowl. Not even winning the division. As long as Aaron Rodgers is QB for Green Bay, and the Bears h...

Re: RARE CSX SD40-3 in Port Huron, Michigan!
SD40-3s aren't really all that rare. They might be uncommon in some terminals, but we get them in GR and Lansing all the time. There are 50 of these units on the roster... Re: St Clair/Lapeer County Railfanning
the HR job (paper mill run) and the CSX coal trains don't seem to have a scheduled time they always run. They seem to be very much hit or miss. Quite often when I'm up in PH during the early afternoon, I'll catch the paper run heading up there. I don't know if they have a certain schedule (every fe...

Re: R.I.P Don Pardo (96)
Both of these men were inspirations. Robin Williams helped me realize humor can defuse many situations, and Don Pardo was one of the all-time great voices. When I was younger I used to goof around and do voices all the time. After I got sick a number of years ago, I lost some of my vocal range and D...

Here I show the old spur at DTE represented with a red line. The conveyor that spans over River Rd. today is was led to the abandonment of the River Rd. Grade Crossing. In order to get coal from the other side of the plant, the tracks crossed through River Rd. and collected coal from the other side...

I used to live two blocks from the dump house! I've gotten a few pics from there, but you have to watch. Security can come by and confiscate your camera (remember, it IS a power plant, which is one of the Homeland Security red flags). I've seen it happen! I used to live across the hall from the guy...

So Roger Daultry, Rod Stewart, and Neil Young should get together and do an album of all-train songs. Just because. Neil Young would play a mean harmonica on a cover of Blackfoot's "Train Train"!

Thanks for sharing Amtrakguy365! Re: Chessie System Extended Vision Caboose in St. Clair
Since the Paperweight2000 (my pet name for my ancient computer) took a dump, I'm looking to get a new one soon. Also looking to get something to scan my old photos a lot easier than the scanner/printer/copier/coffeemaker we have now, so I can share some of my old photos from the '90's. I think a lot...
