Re: A History of The Jackson & Lansing Railroad

Nicely filmed. :) I'm not sure when they stopped serving Grace on the North side of Lansing (late '80s-early '90s would be my guess) but after that they were still doing scrap business with Motor Wheel on that side of their plant. Not totally sure, but I think that stub of the line north lasted unti...

Re: TE2014 (Train Expo), The Photographs

The folks on the bridge at Ithaca were just glad you didn't fall into the water down there. Glad the shot turned out. There were two overlooks by the Mid Michigan bridge in Alma. My 765 shot is from the one just South of the tracks along the river trail. If you went farther along the trail ar...

Made it up to the festival on Fri & Sat. Started Friday by chasing the morning 765 trip from Banister to Alma and back to Owosso. Re: Coolest Railroad Bridge in Michigan?

No way I can pick one: 1. Grand Ledge is a cooler bridge, but Thornapple is so much easier to shoot. 2. The swing bridge at St Joe 3. The drawbridge / lift bridge combo at Sault Ste Marie 4. The Michigan Central's stone arches. There's the little one over the creek at Mason, and the bigger one over ...

Re: Jackson & Lansing equipment

My GF saw a train at the W Michigan crossing (behind Sexton's football field) last week in the early evening. I haven't seen any storage cars, so I'm guessing they still do some interchange with CN?

Re: C&O location ?

Considering that you were shooting straight into the sun, that's not a bad shot at all. :)

Definitely a lot more trees in the NW quadrant.

Re: C&O location ?

Thanks. I understand that the roundhouse was in the NE quadrant, which explains the extra tracks over there.

I love the Emery Gulash films, but the gaps and errors in the narration can be a pain.

C&O location ?

I was just watching the GreenFrog DVD "Penn Central vol3" and there are some shots of a C&O passenger special run for GM in 1972. This location isn't identified, and I'm not sure where it was filmed. My initial gut feeling was Plymouth, but it doesn't look quite right compared to Google Earth. Has t...

Re: Jackson & Lansing equipment

Thanks for the info. :)

I've figured out their morning schedule. They pretty much always come North in to Mason 10 minutes after I get into the house. Seriously though, I hear them most weekdays between 8:30-9 AM

Jackson & Lansing equipment

I've seen their northbound train coming in the Mason a couple of times recently with one or both of the green geeps, and realised that I haven't seen the GP-15s around for a while. Anybody know if they are hiding in the new engine house, or did those go back to the lessor? Also, it looks like the ol...
