Maybe Friday
D709-14 got out of the yard quite early on Wednesday evening, but Tammy "Stickem" the RN Disp, did just that by putting them into the Williamston pass at 934pm to meet Q327-14 who was very late out of Detroit due to no power for the train. 327s entire consist were all for Ensel (36 cars) but did hav...

Poor TSB/GLC
TSB/GLC is probably wondering once again when they will get their cars delivered. Sunday nights D709-11 had eight cars for them but a lack of time to finish their work prevented the delivery. Then, Monday nights D709-12 had to turn at Fowlerville and not switch anyone east of there after having to w...

Hummer Roofs
Only the roof section comes in via Rail and Ogihara, as I understand it, cuts a sunroof into it, and then is shipped out via truck to an assembly plant in Mississippi I believe. The Ogi operator has told me more than once that they never understood why they did not truck in the pre stamped roof asse...

Ogihara News
Had an opportunity to speak with Ogihara people at Howell today about the upcoming closure of the Ford Wixom Plant. Ogihara has supplied Ford Wixom with the majority of stamped parts to build the Lincoln Continental ever since Ogihara came to Howell, even though this business was all by truck. With ...

Where Is The Coke Trains ??
The E949-10 last night to Chicago via Toledo/Garrett did not even have BNSF power. CSX 9021,7891 led the train. Will watch for the N903 coming west via Garrett/Toledo as well. Doc says things are going fine according to the plan, but whats the plan for the Coke Trains? Have not seen a K357 westbound...

The Firecracker Guy
Per the last two poster replies, yea, I live in Howell, trackside, one block west of the old wooden bridge, west of Mich Ave. I have been reading a lot about the Firecracker guy, puttin on another show. While there is'nt all that much difference mileage wise, the E-945-04 ran out of fuel between Ess...

Out of Fuel
As it turned out, the entire town of Howell was crossing blocked for nearly two hours and 45 minutes. :( It could have been a lot of worse if they had passed Highlander Way too, or, if this happend in the middle of the day when traffic at Dearborn St, Michigan Ave. and Walnut St. is a total diaster....

Out Of Fuel
For the first time since they started running Essexville coal loads and empties via Grand Rapids, an empty last night, E945-04 had but one unit, BNSF 8933. Bad timing !!!! After hearing them progressing westbound at a good clip from Plymouth last night, they pass me at 916pm, but in the progress of ...

Helm Stored Units Leaving Flint
Q321-02 out of Flint on Friday for Toledo supposidly had 7 of the 46 Helm units in storage at McGrew. Consist sheet showed HLCX 6056,6063,6509,6515,6525,9026, and 9037 on the train. Unknown if they are being put back in service for CSX or heading elsewhere. Unknown either if others were out ahead of...

Re: X502-25, OS Howell
Actually, I believe it was Saturdays and Wednesdays that X502 didn't run, although many times in the later years, it ran anyway, as X532.[/quote] Just went back and looked and my daily log sheets since Aug 8, 1985 when CP began running on CSX in Michigan. It was on July 1, 1987 that the 500-501 trai...

X502-25, OS Howell
The X502-25 train was by Howell heading east at 3:42pm. Close inspection of the train shows it not to be the "real" X502 (like last Friday morning) but perhaps another of of those "old" X500 trains, or perhaps even the old X536. Only a couple of container loads, followed by a good deal of freight an...

CP Train Z075-26 Via Grand Rapids
Seeing I botched the headline title in my earlier posting on the first "reroute"? I am starting a new thread with this one. This is becoming very strange, especially with the now "Z" designations, unlike last week's reroutes, due to the derailment in Goshen. This time, Z075-26 has just passed Howell...

Make That Z073-26
The correct train designation for the westbound CP train via Grand Rapids is Z073-26. 1. It is to early in the morning, 2. After 21 plus years of seeing CP train cross Michigan on CSX, I am too used to the "X" prefix, even though back in 1985 they began as "Z" trains. Meanwhile, D709's power this we...

CP X073-26 via Grand Rapids
CP Train X073-26 out of Detroit bound for Chicago via Grand Rapids was by Howell at 3:37am. Two units, 400 axels, 7000ft. CP 9557 leading Soo Line 6042. Looked like our old X511 train. Misc freight, a few auto racks, a few double stack containers and a ton of empty container cars on the end. They ha...

Westbounds By Howell
West Olive coal load N904 should already be in Grand Rapids by now with CSX 617,468 for power. Despite 600 series unit being somewhat rare in Michigan, this is the 6th one to show up in February, all on different trains. Q335-24 with CSX8536,7652 os howell at 345pm Q327-24 with CEFX3111,CSX8415,2635...
