Earlier, at 4:50, a long, loud, slow northbound cleared Northville. Scanner was garbled, perhaps it was coal.
Yeah, it was coal. Cleared South Clyde right around 9 a.m.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: 6/27/2016

Northbound grain train through Newark, MI at 5:16pm. Should be coming into Grand Blanc right now. If I'm not mistaken, that was G765 (can anyone confirm?) and he was stuck at South Clyde for almost an hour due to him hitting a vehicle at Livingston Road. The driver was lucky, no injuries, just spun...

Re: CN Pontiac-Orion Line Operations

It wouldn't make sense for GM to ship any parts by rail to Orion Assembly because they barely run full production these days. The small cars that are being produced there are not in high demand by any stretch. Last I knew they were "up and down" as in, up for 2 or 3 weeks and then down for a couple ...

Yaesu FT-250 and the mobile version of the "TrainTenna" from DPD. Great reception, no negatives that I can really think of. Re: CSX/Conrail in Lansing

Looks good....Nice to see Conrail still alive in Lansing, even it's in 1/87 scale. If this is in the 90's then you can't call it "Fisher Body", that name was gone by then  By then it was "Lansing Car Assembly - Body Plant" and what, no Lansing Craft Centre?

Re: CSX ATCS Down Saginaw Sub

Put it this way.... there's no evidence of lineside equipment for cellular or satellite communications up this way. The antennas for ATCS are still up, I can see the one at South Clyde out the kitchen window. I haven't run ATCS lately, when I get home tonight I'll check to see if anything lights up.

Re: Saginaw Area Questions

The entire line was always owned by GM? What about the other industries serviced by the railroad further down the line and those off the river? I don't think all those customers were automotive-related. Thanks for the info on the plant's history. Would you happen to know exactly when the line was c...

Re: CSX Saginaw Sub questions

Off the top of my head there's 321/322 (a mix of freight, sometimes quite long of late to/from Flint), a couple of locals that switch around Wayne, Plymouth, and possibly as far north as Holly, and at least two daily autorack trains, Q216 to Philly and Q231 to Louisville that come out of Detroit. (...

Re: Saginaw Area Questions

That line was C&O property. It used to connect with the GTW (now HESR) at a location known as Brady Hill (named after the nearby cemetery) which is the area you described. The plant that is located between Genesee and Cumberland was formerly Delphi which had major presence in Saginaw throughout the...

I plan on being there. We are scheduled to work that Saturday but I'm gonna blow a personal day :D Getting paid time and a half to railfan and have some cold beverages sounds good to me

I will land in Dooshler on that Friday night also.

Re: What Kind of train action is in the U.P?

While we were up in Munising the week of the 4th, CN ran one train early on that Thursday morning and that was the only train I heard from the Wed-Mon. we were up there. A couple of tank cars sitting outside of the paper mill were the only rail cars I saw the whole time.
