http://www.krages.com/phoright.htm Download it, read it, understand it. Make copies and keep one or two with you to give out to 'helpful' citizens. I have never had to use it but I am very clear on where I can and cannot be and what I can do. Above all else, be cool. The police have a job to do. La...

1. Sunpak = cheap junk. Go with Hoya, B&W or Tiffen. Hey! Thoose cost a lot more. Well there's a reason for that. Make sure to get one that is multicoated to help control flare. A cheap uncoated filter will reduce contrast. 2. There are two kinds of polarizers, the older linear polarizer and newer c...

I mean I don't understand how many do so well without having anything wider than 28mm on 1.5 crop sensors. It just seems like I don't have a lot of opportunity here to get the best out of longer focal lengths. I'm always backed into a spot where I end up needing wide angle, (bad planning maybe :P). ...

Conrail Jon wrote: Ok, forgive me, but what is an L lens? An L lens is a particular class of Canon optic where you look at the price and say "What the L!" Actualy I'm thinking tomorrow will be perfect. So far high of 75 and sunny
with scattered thunderstorms. We all know sun+thunderstorms = dramatic light.
Now I just have to figure the best place to take advantage of it!

 Dane's original post was nearly 5 months ago. For all we know he's gone and picked one by now. If not here's my 2 cents. Read reviews, ask friends, if you know a pro talk to them about what they use and why. Come to a conclusion about what everyone else is using... and go in the opposite direc...

Hmmm... Having never seen the 1225 run I just may be tempted. It all
depends on the cash flow situation. Bad lighting? Well most of my
shots are in 'bad light' anyway (that's why black and white film was invented! )

Hey Steve, I'm confused as to what you mean by 'high sun'. Do you mean you have too much light or overexposure or that when the sun is high you're dealing with blown out highlights (pure white) or blocked up shadows (pure black)? If your shots are consistently too bright you might have exposure comp...

Kind of a wide open question there. Can you post a couple of examples? It would also help to know 1. Camera model 2. ISO (sensitivity) you're using. The higher the ISO the more noise. 3. Resolution setting using. Some cameras can be set to lower resolutions, causing pixelation. 4. File quality setti...

I caught the Trunk unit with the 70 and the dash 9 in Imlay City and
at Emmett. At Imlay it was acting like a local and stopped to spot a
covered hopper and the elevator in town! Talk about an over muscled
local (though I think it was around 60 cars)! I'm going to go develop
the film right now.

who took the group photo. Only had one decent shot out of the day.
