Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
FYI Until this recent update by ND&W our tracks(lafarge) looked far better than theirs HAHAHA The old Cinn Northern part that we own has held up very well. We spend quite a bit on our tracks every year So from the switch at Cecil down to the plant is all LaFarge track? Yes Holcim(as its now known) ...

Not to be a downer but they are derailing a couple times a week going west. FYI We have never stopped using the rail. Cement, cement kiln dust and burnable fuel are always coming and going from and too the plant.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Local crew told me the loco was going to Napoleon. That's all they knew. As for the rebuild project. They have contracted the stone from my work place. No date on when they are starting.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
They are running daily from Woodburn to Defiance and back. They stop when they are out of hours. Currently cement is shipping big to Columbus. And the regular chemical cars for Systech are on the train most days. We are sending about 20 railcars of cement a week to Columbus. Tracks are better and th...

Re: Napoleon Defiance & Western railfanning
Antwerp and Woodburn no longer use the rail. The expense to put in safety cages was to much, they both use trucks now. Antwerp is used for storage of excess rail cars now.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
We at the cement plant and Systech are using rail about two to three times a week. Cement inventory is low so we aren't shipping as much as Columbus would like. Systech very busy but not using much of the rail cars right now. Truck in bounds are keeping them busy.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Currently not loading any cement at the plant. When shipping season starts you should start to see the older gravity feed hoppers get some use. Although with the lafarge holcim merger there is talk of closing the terminal that we supply. The pressure diff cars will be leaving the area as we no longe...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Lafarge/systech spent 70000 dollars this year just on our little section of track. Most of that went to our a new siding, but the expense aside from that was substantial. For a company to spend money on the main line is silly to even think. That being said the rail is in use and we r trying to do ou...
