Re: Lake Shore Limited Michigan test routing

My guess the stops would be Dearborn (for the metro Detroit area), Ann Arbor ( U of M), Jackson (for Albion & MSU students), Kalamazoo (for WMU & Kalamazoo College) and probably Michigan City ( South Bend patrons, Notre Dame). Oddly, Niles is maybe 15 minutes north of Notre Dame, Michigan City is 4...

Re: How Do I Get LSRC Roundhouse Pics?

You really can't anymore. You used to be able to call LSRC and they'd have you sign a release and you could shoot around the roundhouse. Not anymore! Some bad foamers ruined it for the rest of us. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that after those guys tried or did steal a bunch of stuff off of ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates 7/21/2016

At about 2:30PM: Westbound D738-21 came coasting into Plymouth (coming from Livonia) pulling Q392's set off (which consisted of 26 cars) went across the diamond directly to Beck for this evening's D708 and/or D908. Pulling the train was CSX 2672 and trailing was GLLX 1017 (An alco T-6!). The 26 car...

Is that the place in Erie? If so I stopped by there a few weeks ago during their hours of operation they have on their crude website, and not a soul around. No one answers the phone either. I am presuming they are closed... :(

Re: Waterloo Amtrak Shelter

It looks nice. It was supposed to have be opened last week. Although, in my honest opinion, I feel it would be better served if the platform is eventually re-located to where the station has been re-located. Not disagreeing with you but that location was on railroad property, nor was there enough s...

Re: Hotels Near Union Station

I recommend the Holiday Inn Express on Clinton. Newly built. Also, quite a few restaurants (Portillo's just opened a block south), and within easy distance to the Station and railfan hotspots.

Re: Pere Marquette #1225 Hamburg Excursions

$15 for a coach seat $19 if you bought via whistle tix (last time I buy in advance) Friday's trips were not busy at all so could have easily saved the $20 of fees for the 5 tickets I bought (while not taking away money from the society). In the meantime here's a still from a drone video (while they...

From the NEC- Last AEM-7 Trip 6-18-2016

In case anyone was interested, Amtrak ran the "Farewell to the AEM-7" excursion today, effectively retiring the units from service. Amtrak 942 and 946 did the honors, with the consist being 3 Amfleet 1's, NEC Cafe, 4 more Amfleet 1's and AMTK 10001 "Beech Grove" with, Mr. Boardman on board.

All in all the old girl ran pretty well. Looked and sounded good. Well worth the $12 for the coach seat, and I actually got to ride this time.

The swap from NS to CSX (former NYC Water Level) on the Riverfront line changes on the east side of CP Drawbridge (CP 181). CSX runs a local down there, and there is a bit of NS traffic.
