Opinion wanted- modeltrainsweathered.com website

Has anyone 'joined' this web site, http://www.modeltrainsweathered.com? Costs $20 to 'join' for a year, wanted to know if it's worth it before I drop the cash. Also, anyone seen these videos on YouTube by Al Mayo on weathering? Pretty interesting stuff! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGFKa0Jzcn4 Al ...

photo site for rolling stock?

I know that Railpictures.net has photos of mostly motive power; is there a web site that has photos of rolling stock?

Picking up the trash at Mershon

I don't know if this has been posted, or if anyone even noticed, but two of the derailed/overturned grain cars at Mershon in Saginaw have been removed this week- the one car laying on its side closest to the mainline on Carrolton Rd. that derailed a couple weeks ago, and the one laying on the Midlan...

You know, i thought for sure that that portion of track- the curve headed toward the river & bridge- was just recently rebuilt/repaired/updated only this past year. What caused the derail, has anyone heard?

MIGN-Bill--

Nice layout, nice photos! Can you provide some details about your layout drawing? Length & width of layout, depth of shelf for the layout, what each square in the drawing represents (12", 6" or ??) Thanks, keep up the GREAT work! :D

Today (Friday), the 4449 went through Ashly at M-57 at about 10:20 AM headed to Alma, if that helps.

Re: Trainfestival 2009 Picture thread(post all pics/videos here)

I had a chance to catch 4449 this morning as it traveled to Alma. I caught it at the M-57 crossing near Ashly. It was kind of foggy until about five minutes before 4449 came through, then the sun came out just in time! http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10233/DSCN2809.jpg http://railroad...

Re: HESR 6/19/2009

Hey, Justin-- I caught the return run of this train at about 5 PM this afternoon in Saginaw; they dropped a cut of cars in Genessee yard, then headed toward Bay City with the Dow fire safety cars at the end of the train. I took photos, they're in my album. Al http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/us...

New to N scale- what is the best brand?

I'm giving some serious thought to picking up some N scale stuff for a little shelf layout to play with until the time comes when I can build my HO layout. I know that in HO, Tyco, Bachmann are bottom of the barrel brands, Athearn engines are good basic quality and dependable, and then the quality g...

Unusual web site- did you notice that if you click for the "next msg", you got photos of the US Airways jet recovery from the Hudson River, and the next page after that is the world's smallest bikini's???

Re: What Was Your Best Railfanning Day of 2008?

For me, every chance I get to railfan is my 'best day'. I don't get that many chances to get out to the hot spots like Durand, I'm usually lucky to catch trains around Genesee yard in Saginaw and chase them around town or as they head toward Bay City. So, I count every day as my 'best day'!

I agree with PerRock, if anyone should be advertising it should be Amtrack. Thye need the ridership and the $$, any good businessman will tell you that you need to advertise to get the customers. Of course, they're going to need to improve their customer service, too- on time "delivery" of the custo...

The car that derailed was a covered hopper, and it was directly behind the County Health building. I stopped there after work today around 3 PM, and McNally-Nimergood was there with a large crane; they had already placed the end of the hopper that lost the truck back on its truck and onto the track,...
