1970s Topographical Maps of Michigan?

Many moons ago, somebody posted a link to a site where maps of Michigan circa 1975-76 were available for download.

Can anybody remember/find the link to that site? Try as I might, I can't find it. Attached is an example of what they looked like, this one is of the Saginaw area.

Thanks in advance!

HESR uses trackage rights from Mershon to ??? Jct. where they access the short branch to switch Tri-State. Last I heard Tri-State was getting 1-2 cars per week.
That location is Hoyt where the old NYC line out to Denmark crossed the PM/C&O/CSX at one point.

It's a shame the line was torn up.

It could have been a prime passenger route for VIA/Amtrak.

Re: Future of the Plymouth Sub/Grand Rapids Sub

I enjoy “What Ifs”. That is why I manage paper railroads. That’s why I like reading the paper railroad forum. Scenarios continued: Scenario 5.0 Watco/Grand Elk takes control of the entire line from Plymouth to Porter. Scenario 6.0 GLC takes control of the entire line from Plymouth to Porter. Scenar...

Re: Future of the Plymouth Sub/Grand Rapids Sub

3. The least practical suggestion: the idea of them connecting the GR Sub with the Porter Branch, would only further complicate the current arrangement as instead of getting onto NS, trains have to CROSS over that busy line and you can guarantee CP isn't getting priority. Never mind the cost and sc...

Re: Future of the Plymouth Sub/Grand Rapids Sub

In any discussed scenario, CP will be beholden to NS. 1. Trackage rights on the Wabash/Chicago Line (the current arrangement) 2. Purchasing/leasing the Plymouth and GR Subs, they'll still have to transfer to the Chicago Line at Porter 3. The least practical suggestion: the idea of them connecting th...

Does anybody know all the customers served by the C&O between Saginaw and Ludington/Elmdale on their respective subdivisions?
At what point in time?
I'm curious about the 1970s/early 80s, specifically any time between 1976 and 1982 before the Elmdale Sub was split.

Re: McGrew Yard

North of Carpenter Rd is Coldwater Yard (named after the street that passes over the northern entrance to it).

The yard south of Carpenter is the actual McGrew.

To add to the list:

The Flint & Pere Marquette Station in Saginaw.

Part of the auxiliary tower has collapsed but the main building is still standing and the local committee has been doing what little they can over the years to restore it.

Other than the trains traversing my territory (usually Sunday evenings loaded and empties back on Thursday afternoon), I don't have any additional information on the trains like consists, etc.
Was it considered a high priority train? Did it have a set schedule?

C&O Dispatcher?? Was wondering if you had any papers on the Chessie Dow/Death/Bomb Train?

Would you happen to have any documentations of that trains operations on your person? I could use some extra details on it.

Re: CSX Train Symbols BEFORE Conrail ?

I don't believe they've changed much since the 90s. I know the freight trains were "R"s instead of Qs for a while pre-1999. About the only major change for CSX symbols in the last 20 years (that I can think of) are when they adapted the "V" symbols for empty grain trains, and the short-lived experi...

Re: CSX reviewing lines for potential sales

Obviously things change, but they already tried to sell the PM quite a few times. Heck they tried to sell it to CP when CP still used it, and they didn't want it. I'm not sure who would want in after CSX lost over half the traffic. Unless of course, they are offering one heck of a deal. That change...

Re: CSX reviewing lines for potential sales

Hope LSRC gets most of the remaining PM lines. Would be nice to see more trains running from Saginaw. This is bittersweet though since CSX is my favorite Class 1 but I'd rather these lines have the chance to flourish again and reinvigorate local communities than flounder in the hands of a company th...
