They closed Carrollton because output exceeded demand and Carrollton is close to Bay City's plant. Bay City is newer and more state of the art and could handle the additional capacity. Sebewaing is a small plant but Caro and Croswell are good sized.

I think the question was if 384/385 were abolished why then was the train in the picture called 385.

As for the train lengths its my understanding that the present CEO likes fewer but longer trains. So it'll stay that way until someone else comes along and changes it.

I don't have the answer but it's possible that the Cadillac crews switched assignments with the day crew running to Clare instead and the night crew running north.

Did the train come from Owosso or Cadillac? The reason I ask is there are several day trains on GLC. If their normal routes were slow they could send them off in a different direction. Or it could have been some hot cars that needed spotting at the Clare Poly Pavilion.

CSX and NS are taking bids on many lines in many states. That's common knowledge. If they get the right price they'll sell, lease, whatever. Look guys, if CSX will sell Flint-Saginaw, Baldwin Sub, Montague Sub, etc. they'll sell other profitable lines too. They possiblity of Class 1's divesting more...

Sell building maintenance service (janitorial, lawn care, snow removal, etc.) for a regional company headquartered in southeastern Michigan. I get to travel a little bit and work with some people who directly or indirectly handle transportation services for their companies.

Maybe I misread Patrick's message. I thought he was talking about the Monitor Sugar plant in Bay City converting to a bio-diesel plant. Is he talking about the closed-plant in Carrollton re-opening as a bio-diesel plant? That would be cool!

If I'm not mistaken Patrick Monitor (MI Sugar) already does a fair amount of railroad business. Is there any speculation whether rail traffic will decrease or increase if it converted to biodiesel?

Durand

I haven't downloaded my pictures yet but Durand was a great day yesterday! I was there from 7:45am-7pm and saw 15-16 trains or so. At least four of them switched the yard providing for steady action most of the day with a few really busy times and of course a few slower times.
