Re: NS Peavine talk

Hey Scrap,

Does the railroad still pay property taxes if a rail line is out of service, and if the rail line is leased by a short line, who pays the taxes, just curious?

Re: Ohio Rail Plan 2017

Upgrade the CFE with more sidings and make a deal or swap for Buckeye Yard with CSX to get control of the CFE, still lease it to CFE but able to run more trains East and West

Re: NS Peavine talk

Perhaps that is why the keep their part of Buckeye, always convert it into a intermodal yard, BTW UPS is doing a huge expansion on the West Side of Columbus.

also Keeps CSX from expanding their facility at Buckeye

Re: Ohio rail business news

Back in the Early Days of the I&O, Navistar's Stamping Plant had a siding into the stamping plant but did not receive anything when I worked there. Also had a steam horn I would hear every morning while waiting on the school bus

Re: Springfield Abandonments

I think the last run was Sept 1997 around Labor Day. Conrail took, CP Warder, Weber, Nate , and Glen Echo out of service in 1991 or 1992? Everything North of CP 183 and CP Maitland was Manual Block. GT took Maitland out of service a few years later

Talking about a long time to sell of land, my uncle just in the last couple years purchase a ROW from CSX in Palmer Tennessee, the line was abandoned in the 1950's, I think it was still under the NC & StL RR, part of the Tracy City Branch.

Another Deal just announced between Navistar and GM to build cut-away vans, but sill have not seen anything on rail service being restored at the plant, I assume it would be for out-bound racks of the vans?

maybe Better Rates from CSX? also, they are not on a rail line, but appears Liberty Center is closer and may get better service from NDW.

Re: IORY South End Part Five

Back in the mid 90's, I heard that Contractor Lumber was suppose to get a spur, across the track from Landmark, I think the problem was the power line was in the way, and to costly to relocate, believe they are no longer at that location. You can see about were the spur was suppose to go The Packing...

Re: trains along the CSX toledo branch

I sure the loop track helps loading also, in Mechanicsburg, they have to cut the cars to 3 or for at a time, a lot more labor and movements involved.

I hope they keep the Burg around, will miss the trains by Mom's house
