Is this the same Star Clipper that ran in Iowa back in the '80's?

Tolono is a good spot also with the NS crossing the CN/IC. In Tuscola the tower is no longer there. When I was there in2006 I just parked in the public parking spaces that are alongside the UP main. Highway 45 follows the CN main fairly well.

Glad you at a good time railfanning "my" part of Iowa. UP through Ames sees upwards of 90 trains a day,and the BNSF in Ottumwa sees around 30-40 trains, although a year ago I went down to Ottumwa and in 7 hours only caught 4 trains. Hope you make it back to ride the Boone and Scenic next time.

I plan on catching some ICE trains before they're gone. I'll probably try either Ottumwa,Iowa or Davenport,Iowa.

I believe the only remaining Trainmaste is in a museum in Canada. There might still be a Baby Trainmaster working in Tennessee. I can't remember what the name of the complex it was working at though.

GP40/GP40-2

I was on another forum and someone said that late phase GP40 had a sight glass and late phase GP40-2 did not. I think his facts are wrong, but wanted to find out from others if I was missing something. He is not talking about any rebuilds like the one Norfolk Southern has been doing.

That happened in Des Moines,IA. If it had happened today there would be a good chance that one of the trains would have hit his car. At the time almost every train went into the yard(Short Line Yard). I can't remember when that happened, but it was either the Chicago and North Western or Union Pacifi...
