Re: Toledo Branch D.D.s

not Toledo Branch, but the St James detector on the burt line was changed out like three years ago. The detector near Arnold or Kileville north of Columbus still says Conrail I have evidence! St. James has the really annoying woman's voice who you can't understand http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIq...

The detector itself is but it's readout is not. Somebody in a previous thread said it got changed to CSX and gives out a milepost as its location.
In other words CSX just changed the sound card.

Re: Hot Afternoon in Deshler

What is the best times of the day for trains at Deshler ? Any better than others ? Dead times or daily lulls ? Best times to catch foreign power ? JTNikon Anytime is train time at Deshler, although there seems to be surges of activity in the morning and in the evening. Catching foreign power is mer...

Re: Toledo Branch D.D.s

I've heard North Trombley and Mortimer but not the others (North Trombley got changed back to Conrail and I have yet to get a recording of it). Supposedly Lime City still says Conrail too. I thought I read on a previous thread that Kenton got replaced by D.D.s at 65 and 75 but I drove through Kento...

Toledo Branch Stuff

*What originally was a thread about the defect detectors of the Toledo Branch has ended up turning into just a thread about the branch in general, which is perfectly fine with me. I have changed the title to accommodate this.* I've heard North Trombley and Mortimer but not the others (North Trombley...

Durand
Galatea
Fostoria NS/Willard Sub
Deshler
Attica
Lansing (I think)

And probably more than that.
You can add Marion, OH to the list. There are new diamonds going in on the NS/CSX Indy Line diamonds.

Re: NS Sandusky District Symbols South of Bellevue

You've got a relatively complete list there. There are however some coal trains that run on that line like 864, 866 and 869 but obviously run as needed. This is an incomplete list of what runs through Columbus on the line. All that would be missing through Bellevue would be if anything goes west to ...

Re: busiest route you've seen in ohio

It's tied between the NS Chicago Line and the former B&O once you get past Greenwich. Yes you'll see a majority the trains on those lines at Berea but not all because there are a handful of CSXs that head for places like Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

Heads Up - Q-506

The wicked power for the Toledo Sub continues. I just got a heads up from CincyRails that tonight's Q-506 should have CP 8772 (an ES44AC), CITX 3070 (an SD40-2), CP 6049 (another SD40-2) and SOO 6022 (an SD60).

Re: CSX Q131 with UP 4912 - UP 4427 05/26

Thanks for the information. I guess it isn't really a fair question, since I understand that the cars going back is more complicated than just bringing them back. I just found it odd that Q108 is so long and Q111 has of late been much shorter. Thanks. Q108 also gets a sizeable 'pickup' added to its...

Re: Bryan, Butter, St. Joe

Yeah unfortunately with the summer high sun angles you'll get awkward shadows and stuff. Tank cars especially look weird in high sun (the top and bottom are lit but the middle and trucks are shadowed). Just one of the many adventures in railfanning is working with what nature presents you. And I've ...

Re: Columbus Area Railfanning?

I will be heading to Mechanicsburg OH (West of Columbus) on Saturday. I will be there for about 2-3 hours. Do any of you know any good spots to see trains that is within 15-20 minutes of there? I saw on mapquest that Urbana(?) has some tracks, but I don't know what railroad they are. I also saw tha...
