Re: 1982 Westbound Watch
If its out of Selkirk at 1730 today when does it come across NW Ohio? Any idea whether there is any chance its tomorrow a.m. after sunrise. Wouldn't be a real good eastern facing photo in the morning but better than not getting it at all. Ron It all depends on how many delays it gets hit with, like...

It's like those EMD switchers that the N&W had -- every single one of them had a Leslie five-chime.

Re: UP 1982 coming east - K64821
I was lined up for that train out of Villa Grove for the longest time, but they snuck an IMNCSR on the lineup at the last second which lined me up for QNPSKP. Both the ethanol (UEAWXD) train and QNPSKP (CSX Q390) were rerouted at Gibbon, NE down through StL and back up to Chicago due to congestion....

For what it's worth, it was by Wellington at exactly 1900, according to a report on the CSX_Albany_GreatLakes Yahoo! Group.

Actual location update - report from the field has it still sitting in Willard as of 4:30PM... Regards, Michael And now it's getting to the point where the light (if any) is getting worse and worse for eastbounds. Sucks to be anyone waiting for it at Greenwich and even worse for those in Berea... o...

Re: Toledo Branch Stuff
To answer redside20's original question, the piece of railroad between Tontogany and North Baltimore was the B&O through Bowling Green. The line to Findlay split off between South Deshler and the diamond with the Chicago main (totally unrelated). To be honest, I was really thrown off by the whole "...

I'm coming too. Does this make me the seventh or did you already know I was coming?
My dad and I even got a room at the "railfan Marriott".

I didn't know 8510 (the trailing unit in the picture) got repainted. They probably swapped the horn on it as well.

Yes B&O, its the missing leg of the wye in Deshler. I want to say it was the Bowling Green Sub. Nope. That's the branch to Findlay. The Bowling Green Branch (or whatever it was called) never went through Deshler. Take a look at this map: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/13/Baltimore_...

Guilty! I overestimated the number of trains just a bit.Y@ wrote:Holy crap, where you got that number, I will never know! You could probably get 95 in Berea, but not just sitting in Wauseon or Delta or one of those towns!cbehr91 wrote:There's probably 95 trains a day

Still, for a mainline east of the Mississippi, that's not too bad.bdconrail29 wrote:Even less out there, more like 50-55/day.

Re: Toledo Branch Stuff
i know this is a Toledo Branch discussion but what was the name of an abandoned rr line that ran west of the Toledo Branch and that split from the B&O at Tontogany and ran through Bowling Green and through villages and place names like Portage, Rudolph, Ducat, Bays, Plaza, Hammansburg and finally e...

Re: Deshler vs. Fostoria vs. Berea
Since i'm more partial to Norfolk Southern, i always tune in to what NS runs through Fostoria and all along the Fostoria district. though there may be less volume of traffic on the Nickel Plate there is a great diversity of traffic spread out in a 24 hour period. from manifests, intermodals, roadra...

Re: Your Preference on Engine Looks
Fresh and clean paint is obviously more esthetically pleasing (and the preference of this observer). It's real hit-or-miss on CSX although it's getting better. If I hear an older EMD or GEVO leading then there's a pretty good chance it'll be looking spiffy in YN3, although some older EMDs have yet t...

Re: Mcdonnald Ohio?
Looks like most of NS's GP15-1s made it there. There also appear to be a few DM&IR SD-Ms there too. That BNSF slug looks like an antique. Wonder what the lineage of that E-unit is?

Re: Toledo Branch Stuff
It's still in the Conrail voice, at least as of last Thursday. I didn't think the shortly used "female voice" on it was that hard to understand, but I was glad they changed it back. CSX_CO said that it dinged Q-219 for a defect and the crew couldn't understand what axle the defect was on so they ha...

Re: Toledo Branch Stuff
Quick question, don't know if it's been asked or not, but where did the name "North Tromley" come for that detector? just so happens to be in the village of North Trombley Doesn't exist. In the early days of the railroad the village of Trombley was probably still around but after it dissolved the r...

I saw 8886 like sixth or seventh out on Q-364 on Tuesday. It was in YN-3 and I would have to imagine it's still active.
I was told a a couple months ago that 8954 was stored bad order in Huntington, West Virginia.
