Re: AA Train Symbols
I wondered who's been messing with the wiki. Just don't delete anything. Some of us have put a lot of time into it, including AA page which I see has already been monkeyed with. And who the heck messed with the Fallen Flags page!? Nothing's been deleted, just sorted to better fit a standardized for...

Re: AA Train Symbols
OK. I see now you changed it to Ann Arbor symbols! Disregard above, I guess. Yes it is true that as soon as I made this post I found a page with a load of DT&I symbols and so I changed this to cover up for my embarrassment. However, this is still really valuable as it gives more symbols and ...

AA Train Symbols
Been working on the wiki building a page for the original Ann Arbor railroad . I’ve found a few but was wondering if anybody had a list of train symbols used by the road or really any info on their operations, specifically during the later years but any time period is welcomed.

Re: Highway construction at Trowbridge
They’re probably running work zones while contractors are actually on site. Depending on the phases and how close men and equipment are, there may or may not be slow speeds given to trains passing by the employee in charge. Pretty typical to give 30s when men are around but not super close to the t...

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
While traveling through Blissfield this past Sunday I was surprised to see an NS coil steel car in the yard there. I didn't know ADBF had a customer that received/shipped that particular commodity. I didn't take pictures which means I don't know the car number. I believe there is a railcar repair o...

EMD Questions
1. When looking at the below photo of an NS SD60M being scrapped I see the words "Engine Oi" and "Water" written along side that metal tube which makes up part of the walk way. Is that tube actually a tank for engine oil and water or are those labels directed towards something else in the vicinity? ...

Re: The port of monroe-containers?
Container shipping by water, even at low volume, is still usually cheaper than overland options. There’s just so many steps, people and infrastructure needed for overland transportation that water doesn’t require. So it can be surprisingly competitive. I have no idea on the actual economics of this...

Re: The port of monroe-containers?
is it not more than a minor detail to overlook if you plan to do international containers when the the welland canal shuts down for several months during the winter? The idea is to be cheaper and bypass the east coast ports. I'm sure all of these containers would be drayed direct to the customer. I...

Re: The port of monroe-containers?
There's a few big reasons why container ships aren't seen on the lakes so I wouldn't put too much stock in this project. Will probably be on a similar level to to Port of Duluth/Spliethoff's container operation, which is served by CP and adds only a few extra cars, nothing worthy of a full train. An...

Nice
I picked up a GTW timetable for around 5 bucks a few years back and its fascinating to read. A lot of the information is still accurate despite its publication date being in the mid-80s so I bet you'll find some use in the CR book for roads such as the GDLK.

Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread
CSX apparently threw one of the new SD23T4’s on the front of a loaded coal train. Results are not known…but I’ve heard they’re absolute piles of garbage, so it probably didn’t go well. It never does seem to go well when companies try to mesh one's powertrain to another's frame. Thinking back as far...

Re: Hamilton Northwestern Railroad Co.
Back in the day, Fillmore had a depot and a few other buildings and at least two tracks. So, the railroad had a larger tract of land for these buildings and tracks. While the buildings are gone....the railroad retained the land, which now allows for the transload facilities. Neat, any pics floating...
