Well for starters a bathroom would have been nice.

So just how lame is the new Fostoria Rail Park?

I'm going down to Fostoria on Saturday. I was really looking forward to going to this new rail park I've been hearing about for the last 10 years. After seeing videos on YouTube the rail park looks kind of lame. I mean come on seriously. You've had over 10 years to design a rail park that could have...

Just don't enjoy rail-fanning like I use to.

I've loved trains since I was a little kid. I've been going train watching for years. It just seems that lately I'm not enjoying it as much. It's hard to explain but I'm not enjoying the places I usually go. Besides Durand which I still love but now I work Saturdays and I'm not able to go as much. I...

Re: Trespasser Wins Settlement

Don't mean to change the subject. Does anyone else remember this. There is a park in Royal Oak across the tracks from a high school. Not sure if it's still a high school. But anyway, there was a hole in the fence for years separating the park from the railroad tracks. I admit I even would go through...

Why?
Because those are the only places I know of. I tried to go to Toledo but could not find a good place to park. I've heard of Vickers but could not find it. Not interested in going to Berea.

Anyone using rrpicturearchives.net

I stumbled upon a website called rrpicturearchives.net. I never even new this existed. Anyone submitting pictures to this site? Is it any easier to get pics accepted then the other railroad picture website?

Re: Sunday train watching

Otherwise, go to Romulus or Delray, less than half the distance away. Delray is the busiest junction in MI. However, I hear these days even it is a little slow sometimes. Never really felt safe going to Delray alone. Would do Romulus. Also have heard many people mention Wyandotte, although not sure...

Re: Sunday train watching

I would try Ohio. Sorry, looking for someplace a little closer to home. West Bloomfield to Durand - 59 miles - 71 minutes per Bing. West Bloomfield to Toledo Ohio - 71 miles - 70 minutes per Bing. I'd absolutely vote for Toledo if you are still from the West bloomfield area, Pica. Otherwise, go to ...

Sunday train watching

Hi Everyone, I just started a new job that requires me to work Saturdays. So now the only day I get to go train watching is Sunday. I know Sundays can be kind of hit or miss. Anyone know any good Sunday train watching locations? How is Durand on Sundays?

Cropping question

Hi Guys, photos submitted to railpictures.net have to be so many pixels high by so many pixels wide. So my problem is when I start cropping to meet the requirements I lose a lot of the original image on the sides or top. Is there a way to meet their pixel requirement but keep the whole image. My pic...

Re: Anybody taking pictures of signals

Since I first posted this thread, my brother and I have gone to Fostoria and other places taking pictures. He's really into photography and has helped me learn to take pictures. Not all the shots I took have been keepers but I got some really good shots. Plan to open a Flickr account and post some t...

Agreed. Every time I'm in Durand I always see kids carrying their bikes across the diamond or across the tracks.

Durand Memorial Railroad Park

I just saw the final plans for the Park that Durand is planing on building on most of the vacant land surrounding the depot. The plans call for shopping, cafes, sports fields, a water park, a pedestrian bridge over the Canadian National tracks, and some other things. Looks like it could be really ni...

Michigan Railroad Map

Does anyone know if the State of Michigan makes railroad maps. I got an Ohio railroad map last weekend in Fostoria.

Triple Crown Roadrailers

I was in Fostoria over the weekend with my brother. I was telling him about the Norfolk Southern Roadrailer train. We didn't see any all weekend. Then Ellen came by passing out Ohio Railroad Maps, finally she had something I could use. On the back of the map was a bunch of little maps. One of the ma...

Where to go in Berea.

Some of you may have seen my other post on Horseshoe Curve. I decided that was to far out of my way and going to Berea, Ohio makes much more sense. Could you guys tell me where the best locations are to go to in Berea. I don't want to end up on RR property. Are there any places there to eat or stay ...
