HESR just rolled back into bad axe from the south with one rail America unit for power and 8 cars, 5 covered hoppers and 3 tank cars. Lately they have been running south around 8am and coming back in the afternoon Monday wendsday and friday

Just a FYI looking at the customer list on rail wiki and noticed the inactive? Next to the co-op elevator in Elkton. It still does receive hoppers there was two there a couple weeks ago on the spur. This is the location right next to tower auto. So all 4 customer listed are active still

The auto plant in Elkton loads in Omnisource gondolas. The usually stage the empties in Elkton but maybe they are taking them all the way to Bad Axe and spotting them on the return trip west to Saginaw. Just a random thought/question but when was the last time in michigan that a railroad has expanded by laying new tracks to previously unserviced areas? I'm not referring to a short spur to one business I'm talking several miles of a brand new grade. I'm assuming it's been many many years? Thanks

Huron/eastern 2145 solo with nine tank cars south out of bad axe at 7.55pm

4 more gondolas sitting in the bad axe yard along with covered hoppers and a boxcar to be taken south this week. Still unsure where the gondolas are headed but it's the first ones I've seen since last fall.

A quick observation today the section of track between caro and colling on the Hesr is completely empty of storage cars today. Typically there are a couple hundred covered hoppers in storage at any given time.

On a similar note the co-op elevator received a grant that will allow them to upgrade the bean processing facility in pigeon, tripling production capabilities. That should mean more boxcar traffic in and out of there.
